It's a damn shame apps have gone downhill since they were first started, because I met my husband and some really wonderful people, a couple of who are still friends of mine, on OKCupid a decade ago. My other mid-30s friends have a lot more success now on paid matching services like match.com because people are apparently more serious about getting into a relationship on there compared to tinder. A bit of background, I'm recently out of a 20 year relationship. Haven't used my Match.com account in about that long. My profile's been hidden the whole time.
