Mailgun from Sinch is a well-established, developer-focused email service that's been in business since 2010. It powers email delivery for some large, well-known companies including Lyft, American Express, and Wikipedia. As a developer-focused tool, Mailgun is fast to get started with and integrate into your product. It's an excellent offering if you're looking for a reliable, easy-to-use product. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
In this Mailgun integration example we'll show how easy it is to create and deploy a complete serverless backend that integrates with the Mailgun SaaS API for sending email messages to your users. - Source: dev.to / over 3 years ago
Another solution to this problem is relaying through services which will do the heavy lifting for you (this was been discussed in the original thread, here and in the article I wrote). So far people have suggested - ImprovMX (https://improvmx.com) - Mailgun (https://mailgun.com) As any others come in I will update this comment (until I can't, anyway) and the article as a reference. - Source: Hacker News / almost 4 years ago
Sure. I have an account with mailgun, though I have heard good things about sendgrid as well. It costs me $35/mo, but I use the account as part of the management of a phpbb forum I host, but I have a patreon for that that covers the expenses. If I didn't have that patreon, I would have to think pretty hard about how to proceed. Source: almost 4 years ago
As you can see, "mailgun.com" the "leading email delivery service for companies around the world" is included in their SPF despite not being them, precisely so they can spoof being Edward Jones, presumably in some marketing effort:. Source: about 4 years ago
I use Mailgun for things like that. The "Flex" plan I use is 1k emails a month for free. I don't see my plan on the site anymore but there are other free alternatives:. Source: about 4 years ago
Use a service provider for transactional emails like sendgrid or mailgun. Source: about 4 years ago
Oh, for that, you should use https://mailgun.com or https://sendinblue.com. Source: over 4 years ago
Good luck setting up stock PM Bridge, or using a headless alternative. I use PM myself, but for sending automated emails, I leave that to Mailgun. Their free (flex) tier is plenty imo. https://mailgun.com. Source: over 4 years ago
I've swapped to using mailgun.com instead of using the Fortinet email services, it's still slow sometimes, but more reliable. Source: over 4 years ago
One thing I will add is you do still need to signup for an SMTP server. I ended up using Mailgun, but there are many. Once you do that you'd plug in your creds to Firebase, and move forward with your setup. Source: over 5 years ago
Mailgun, a popular email delivery service, holds a prominent position in the realms of email delivery, transactional email, and email marketing platforms. It is frequently recognized for its robust API integration and developer-focused features, making it an attractive choice for organizations seeking to streamline their email infrastructure and communication processes.
Usability and Integration
Mailgun is particularly praised for its simple API integration, which is adaptable to various programming languages, proving advantageous for developers who require a seamless tool for sending, receiving, and tracking emails. This ease of integration is reflected in a plethora of positive reviews globally, cementing Mailgun's reputation as a user-friendly option for businesses of all sizes.
Pricing and Plans
In terms of pricing, Mailgun offers a flexible model that begins as low as $5 per month for up to 10,000 emails, appealing to small and medium enterprises and indie businesses. The Foundation plan offers a dedicated IP address starting at $35 per month for 100,000 emails, while the Growth plan, at $80, includes 1,000 email address validations. This tiered pricing strategy allows organizations to choose plans that best fit their email volume and growth trajectory.
Strengths in Transactional and Bulk Email Handling
Mailgun's ability to handle transactional emails efficiently is often highlighted, with features such as bulk email sending using a single API call, efficient email list segmentation, A/B testing, and customized email options for niche audiences. Additionally, Mailgun's webhook capabilities facilitate seamless integrations with applications, allowing real-time alerts and updates when actions occur on sent emails.
Challenges and Comparisons with Competitors
However, Mailgun is not without its challenges. Some users have reported issues when using shared IPs, such as email service provider (ESP) throttling, which can be detrimental for businesses not sending enough emails to merit a dedicated IP. Mailgun advises using a dedicated IP for sending more than 5,000 emails per day or 50,000 per week, creating a dilemma for medium-volume senders who may not meet these thresholds. Additionally, the cost-benefit analysis of Mailgunโs pricing against its competitors like SendGrid, MailChimp, and Brevo is a consideration for businesses evaluating alternative providers.
Overall Perceptions
Despite certain limitations, the public opinion about Mailgun remains largely positive. Its reputation as a leading email delivery service for globally recognized brands such as Lyft, American Express, and Wikipedia exemplifies its reliability and robustness. Mailgun continues to be a preferred choice for developers needing streamlined and efficient email solutions, especially emphasized by its cost-effective free tiers for smaller email volumes. For businesses weighing their options in the market of transactional email providers, Mailgun offers a compelling blend of features, flexibility, and ease of use.
