Then, depending on the game it may not open unless you move it out of the downloads folder. You might also have better luck using the itch app: https://itch.io/app. Source: about 1 year ago
Many of the games under the category of βwebβ on itch io arent mobile or browser friendly. The exceptions are the pico 8 games and the few developers that take the time to make proper browser bindings and use supported webgl. If they dont inherintly make it run with wasm, try this https://itch.io/app. Source: about 1 year ago

I've installed the Itch.io client in desktop mode and use it to get/buy cheap but highly rated Visual Novel games. Most of them are RenPy games that run natively on linux. If you add them to desktop mode and there aren't much animation, RenPy on the Steam Deck automatically clocks down and runs these mostly static games in 5FPS. They basically don't use power, except for the power the screen needs. Source: about 1 year ago
You can download the installer from their website. It installs in your Home directory. Source: over 1 year ago
I strongly recommend using the Itch.io app for this. You will get automatic mod updates, without even having to open the mod manager again, they just get installed in the background and you will always be running the latest version every time you run the game. Source: over 1 year ago
I did this in another Linux machine and it worked fine. You could also try this. 1. Download and install the Linux Itch App Https://itch.io/app 2. Install Crosscode through the Itch App. I think it's usually Linux 64 version. 3. Add Crosscode launcher to steam as any other game, rename, Boilr for images and such. Source: over 1 year ago
Itcho.io has a desktop app that is available for Linux. It is a convenient way to access and install games from your itch.io library, but as of the writing of this guide, it doesn't seem possible to launch the app from within SteamOS. Attempting to do so with result in it loading for a while before closing without any sort of error message. Source: over 1 year ago
Go to https://itch.io/app and download the app. Source: over 1 year ago
Go to the itch.io website to download the Windows version of the itch.io launcher. Source: over 1 year ago
Remember that itch.io/app doesn't add your games to library if you didn't buy them directly, but got them in a bundle. To get them to show you need to find the game(can be done in the app), and above the game description click "Download" button. It will add the game to the library, and then you can install it trough the app. To find your games from bigger bundles you can use https://randombundlegame.com/. Source: almost 2 years ago
