My question is about science crowd competition sites such as spaceappschallenge.org , xprize.com or innocentive.com . These organizations are trying to develop new organizational models for science, and I think the initiative to include the general public is great. I was a solver on a different team for the netflix challenge. Our team didn't win the grand prize. I would have expected that a blog post to discuss how this was structured. Netflix contracted with innocentive [1], which is a website for solvers, and contracting to that website expanded Netflix's reach to the available pool of solvers.
