Looks like it isโthey started out with the same color scheme just without the splashes [0], then changed the colors when someone recognized it. From the thread it sounds like an honest mistake. They seem to have assumed that everything on icons8 [1] was up for grabs, when in fact a lot of trademarks are on there. I used Figma as the design tool and Icons8 for the illustrations. One thing I really like about Icons8 is that they have illustration sets, so you can get multiple illustrations in the same style, which gives the app a professional feel since all illustrations are consistent. - Source: dev.to / about 3 years ago

Icons8.com has thousands of high-quality animated ones, but they're not for free and they tend to slow everything down if you use them all over the place. Icons8 is a prominent provider in the realm of digital design assets, offering an extensive library that includes web icons, vector icons, and design tools among others. Positioned alongside competitors such as Flaticon, The Noun Project, and Font Awesome, Icons8 distinguishes itself with a robust suite of features that cater to a wide range of design needs.
Diverse and Extensive Library: A frequent mention across various discussions is Icons8's vast collection of design resources. Users appreciate the wide range of icons, illustrations, and other visual assets available. This extensive library means that designers and developers have a comprehensive resource pool to draw from, which is highly valued in projects requiring consistency in design, such as creating a uniform app interface.
Feature-Rich Platform: Icons8 is recognized not only for its vast collection but also for its versatile functionality. Users frequently comment on features such as HTML embedding, icon recoloring, and support for multiple languages, which enhance the platform's usability. The inclusion of a fonts generator and single style options add to its appeal, enabling users to maintain visual cohesion across various projects.
User Accessibility and Usability: The platform is praised for being readily accessible, allowing users to utilize its resources online from anywhere. This convenience extends to its partial free offerings, though some feedback highlights limitations in resolution and format accessibility on free plans. Nevertheless, the ease of use without geographical or time constraints is noted positively.
Quality and Customization Potential: There is a general sense of satisfaction concerning the quality of Icons8's assets, with particular appreciation for the consistency in style across available illustrations. Customization options, such as color modification and transformation into sprites, are highlighted as beneficial for adapting assets to specific project needs.
Licensing and Usage Considerations: While some discussions acknowledge Icons8 for offering a robust free tier, it is simultaneously noted that attribution is necessary for the use of certain assets. The licensing aspect is crucial, as it requires users to rigorously ensure compliance, especially when employing assets in commercial projects. This licensing model, while standard, prompts a call for greater clarity from some users who have encountered misunderstandings regarding usage rights.
Performance Concerns: There are observations about the performance impact when using high-resolution icons, particularly animated ones. In certain cases, concerns are raised regarding the bandwidth and loading times associated with these assets. This topic, though not overwhelmingly negative, suggests room for icons8 to optimize the performance of its offerings.
Overall, Icons8 is regarded highly within the digital design community, especially for its extensive features and accessibility. While it faces typical challenges associated with free and freemium models, such as licensing clarity and performance optimization, it continues to be a preferred choice for designers and developers seeking versatile design tools and assets.
