I'd suggest decoupling the process of highlighting unknown words and phrases from looking up their definition. If you are fine with doing a bulk lookup once you've finished reading a PDF, then the Highlights app is pretty great. You can export everything you highlight to a pdf file. Since the PDF Expert 3 for Mac also adopted a subscription-based model, I am considering alternatives. UPDF offers almost all of the PDF Expert features for free. They also have a separate PDF converter for the Mac with affordable perpetual licence and OCR capabilities. I am a big fan of Highlights. It works great on Mac, but I mostly use it on iPad. The markup tools are extensive and easy to use. You can also copy markdown formatted text straight from the app to paste into Obsidian. Source: almost 5 years ago
Evince reader ask me "save as" every time I highlight or annotate, I couldn't a shortkey for "save" and it's irritating to click "replace" button every time. Is there any app that let me annotate fast with easy to access select colors and doesnt bother me to "save as" and "replace" existing file, like one from zotero beta.
