  • Reliable pronunciation guide
Oh and for anyone who doesn't know yet - there is this website https://forvo.com/ which has a lot of audio recordings from native speakers. You can search for a single word or a full phrase. It really helped me with Korean and German when I had doubts:). Source: 5 months ago
  • Use YouTube to improve your English pronunciation
Another useful site for hearing pronunciations is Forvo: https://forvo.com/ Those are user contributed pronunciations, so there was an effort to say the word clearly. Although Youglish might be more authentic in a sense, I prefer hearing a word enunciated precisely if I want to learn the pronunciation. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • I don't know the pronunciation of some words
Forvo to hear isolated recordings of words, YouGlish to hear them in context. Source: 10 months ago
  • Accent improvement tips.
Another possible resource is a site called forvo in which people pronounce words and sentences in their own languages. Very useful tool to learn pronunciations of new words but please bear in mind that sometimes they can be unrealistic if they are exaggerated and/or out of context. Source: 10 months ago
  • Do Italians sound like Google Translate does when speaking Italian?
For individual words and phrases, go to http://forvo.com where you can hear native speakers in dozens of languages and even submit new words, names, or phrases. Source: 10 months ago
  • How to pronounce Russian words written in English in Russian?
Go to forvo https://forvo.com, there's a large database of pronunciations. There you can send a request for the pronunciation of any word. Source: 10 months ago
  • French recordings for Anki
Https://forvo.com/ has all the words you'd need already pronounced by native speakers. I'm not sure if there's a limit to how many you can download, as I only use the site occasionally to look up words. Source: 10 months ago
  • Brev Pronunciation (Question)
The Duolingo TTS is often garbage, so I would strongly recommend against using it as your only model for pronunciation. You can look up individual pronunciations read by natives on forvo.com, and I would suggest trying to find ways of regularly listening to natives speaking to get a feel for the language (check out the subreddit's resources section for some ideas on where to start). • WWOTD: Argyfwng
Ideally, one of you, preferably a native Welsh speaker, would record themselves saying those and upload to forvo.com. Forvo lets you look up words from many languages and hear how they are pronounced by (one assumes) someone who knows how. Some words are even posted with, like this one, multiple accents, with area where those are heard marked on a map. Eg, for some Irish words, you can hear Ulster, Connach, and... Source: 10 months ago
  • AnkiDecks - Free AI Tool to generate language learning flashcards
I get audios from https://forvo.com/. Source: 11 months ago
  • ''io'' pronunciation
Fwiw, I find that http://forvo.com is a big help when it comes to pronunciation. Source: 11 months ago
  • Danish Pronunciation
Of course there are regional differences, different dialects. Duolingo cuts of many words short and does not stress words well enough. You can also try Forvo where multiple people can chime in on pronunciation. Source: 11 months ago
  • Looking to learn German.
And if you want to know how something is pronounced, there is a website called forvo.com, that is a pronounciation dictionary. Source: 12 months ago
  • I didn't learn any Italian, am I hosed?
Some basic attempt to speak Italian will always help and be welcomed, of course. It's simple to study some phrases beforehand. The website forvo.com is useful to hear how to pronounce things. Source: 12 months ago
  • Heteronyms
As for pronunciation, Forvo seems to differentiate noun from verb on stress-derived nouns, although it seems you may have to select an accent to get both of them to show up. Source: 12 months ago
  • How to say Omniscient
Forvo and YouGlish are good for hearing pronunciation examples. Both sites will tell you which broad dialect the speaker uses. It's not uncommon for different dialects (eg, US vs UK) to have different pronunciations of a word. Source: 12 months ago
  • Seeking TTS vocab with definition
In case you want native pronunciations of the words, Forvo could also probably help with making such cards. There's an anki add-on for it, too. Source: 12 months ago
  • Best vocab (not writing) app
I use both. I make a lot of my own cards so I get to focus on the vocab I want. Generally find a word I want to learn, use https://forvo.com/ to find native audio for it, then use https://tatoeba.org/ to find sentences use that word. Once you get a bit of practise it's pretty quick to make a word note, then make 2 or 3 sentence notes for it*. However I do use some pre-made decks like this set of sentence decks... • I'm an Audiobook Narrator! Feel free to ask me questions.
I have one producer who always sends me a pronunciation guide. Otherwise I'm on my own. There are great websites like forvo.com and youglish.com plus many others that specialize in certain languages, dialects etc. If there's anything I'm unsure of I'll reach out to the Producers and they'll find out for me. If it's place names, I'll find the place on the map, then phone a shop or two there and get them to help... Source: 12 months ago
  • is the b silent in subtle? How do I pronounce it?
Two good resources to check for accurate pronunciation are wiktionary.org and forvo.com for a variety of voice recordings for words. Source: 12 months ago
  • first time flyer
Knowing a few basic Japanese phrases will always help. https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Japanese_phrasebook has some info. You can listen to Japanese speakers pronouncing things on forvo.com, eg here's how to say "Please" when asking for something: https://forvo.com/word/onegai\_shimasu/#ja. Source: 12 months ago
