  • A few interesting modern pixel fonts
A few different resources with various ways to go about it, one of which may be near what you were hoping for: - FontStruct: https://fontstruct.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 months ago
  • Fran Sans โ€“ font inspired by San Francisco light rail displays
Check out https://fontstruct.com/ and https://glyphdrawing.club/ for a few editors that work this way (i made glyphdrawing.club). But please make one for this! - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Help finding a font similar to this from early Pokemon games?
If you wanted to find pixel fonts, I suggest you going to FontStruct and find one. A lot of people make pixel fonts there and I'm sure you'll eventually find the one that you liked. If you want one quickly, try RomByte, I made that on that FontStruct site, too. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Those of you who have created a writing system for your conlang and also made it for your keyboard so that you can write with it on the computer, can you showcase it? And can you share how you went about creating it on the computer?
I know about FontStruct (https://fontstruct.com/) and maybe you do too, but personally I don't really like it in the sense that it's not very intuitive and even making curves is pretty complicated. Would you have any sites/software (free if possible) to recommend for creating decent characters? As well as sites/software that can be used to create your own keyboard? Source: about 3 years ago
  • Can I make a TTF-Font without paying money?
Fontstruct.com - it'll let you make fonts from predetermined shapes and export as a TTF. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Got a tough one... what font is this?

  • Converting my characters into a font
To give you an easy answer: Try Fontstruct Itโ€™s an online pixel font editor. You basically redraw everything on the website and can then export a font (Iโ€™m not sure if itโ€™s TTF, OTF or both). Alternatively you can also use a proper font editor, as was already suggested, but if you only want a pixel font there is no need for something as complicated as a color font. Especially if this is your first font project. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Gamemaker sprite to .ttf
I don't believe there's any way built into GameMaker, but you could look into dedicated font editors for this. If it's a pixel font then you could try recreating it in something like BitFontMaker2 or maybe FontStruct...if it's not a pixel font then you may have to start looking into programs that use vectors and things like that, which could get more complicated. From my search I couldn't find one that seemed... Source: over 3 years ago
  • I have a MAX7219 connected to an ESP8266 in a NodeMCU package. It has run for months without a single issue, but EVERY time I remove power, the display fails to initialise on startup. A software reboot will fix the problem every time. It's running on 3v3. Code in my first comment.

  • Help creating hieroglyphic-type keyboard
You can use this website https://fontstruct.com/ to make a font and use that. Its a little limiting on how complicated each character can be though. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Any advice on how to convert a language I made for a character into a digital type-able language/keyboard/font?
A search for "font maker online" produced this as the fourth entry Https://fontstruct.com/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • River Script or Ghliotrita
So, there is a really good website that you might be interested in that would make this easier to produce for quick visualization. It's called Fontstruct at https://fontstruct.com I've used it to make my own before, and although it only works on programs directly connected to the computer like Word (as you download it directly to your computer), it works really well. I would like to make your script into... Source: about 4 years ago
  • I made my writing system into a font! Zaarian: Azjad and Azbet! (Feedback wanted)
So here's the trick about this font: it is done in fontstruct.com, but the catch is it's impossible to write vertical text there. So? I rotated every letter 90* and rearranged the lines in reverse order. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Key to my recent script (still working on it)
For making the basic font I used Fontstruct (which is free, online, and easy to use). It has its limitations (at leat for my not-so-good designing skills), mostly in the shapes available. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Anyone know the white and pink font? Looks similar but wider than a font Nintendo used to use on their website. I remember seeing these everywhere on skins of programs like Winamp, but can't figure it out now.
If you have free time on your hands, you can go to https://fontstruct.com and make it yourself. Source: about 4 years ago

  • Does anyone know what font the original megadeth logo is in?
Yes! The font for the original Megadeth logo is English Tudor. Unfortunately, I cant find a download link for a font file... I don't think one exists. However, you can download the image in that link, and make a font file of your own, if you really need it. I'm not too familiar with how to do that, but websites like FontStruct could help? • Making an alphabet for my conlang, Atalamian! 16 characters down, 22 more to go (not including capitalization, diacritics, and punctuation ._.)
Hi! I just made this on Adobe Illustrator, and I'm planning to transfer all these characters onto FontForge later when I'm finished (you don't really need to use Illustrator, you can also just design your characters in the FontForge app itself; I just find it easier to use Illustrator first then transfer my letters). Illustrator is paid and both are a little difficult to use, so I would recommend FontStruct or... Source: over 4 years ago
  • I forgot what free font design program a while back. I opened it and played around a little and thought, damn, I donโ€™t have time to become fluent in this. Can someone do this for me? How much? I couldnโ€™t draw the lower case e. Meds make me shake. Have a better idea for serial killer book cover?
You might like to try out this website as it's quite simple. I think you could make what you have in mind there. Source: over 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of FontStruct

FontStruct, a unique tool within the font creation landscape, garners mixed reviews, primarily appreciated for its accessibility and free platform yet occasionally criticized for its limitations and learning curve.

Key Features and Appreciation:

FontStruct stands out among graphic design tools, particularly for its user-friendly interface that allows users to create fonts using geometric shapes. It is classified under various product categories, including Design Tools and Graphic Design Software. Unlike many free font repositories, FontStruct offers a dual capability: it not only allows users to download free fonts but also empowers them to design their own fonts. This feature is highlighted in multiple articles as a distinctive aspect of FontStruct. For instance, articles highlight its capability to generate TrueType fonts which are applicable in any software tool, enhancing its versatility for creative projects.

The platform's collaborative feature allows users to create fonts using the FontStructor editor and share them within the community for others to download. This function solidifies its position as an interactive and growing database of fonts. FontStruct's utility is evident in niche applications such as pixel fonts, where its grid-based design is particularly useful.

Common Criticisms:

However, user feedback also highlights several areas of potential improvement. A recurring theme in user discussions is the perceived lack of intuitiveness. Some users express difficulties in performing complex designs, particularly when curves or non-geometric shapes are involved. This limitation can be challenging for users aiming to execute sophisticated font designs or those new to the process. Additionally, the absence of features like vertical text creation can limit its applicability for specific projects, such as creating scripts with intricate layouts.

Moreover, despite being a powerful tool for basic font creation, FontStruct is sometimes seen as limited compared to more advanced font editors like FontForge or Glyphs, which offer broader design functionalities and accommodate complex vector graphics. Users involved in intricate or commercial font projects might find these more robust platforms better suited to their needs.

Conclusion:

In summary, FontStruct occupies a valuable niche among font creation tools, particularly for beginners and those looking to craft straightforward or pixel-based fonts. Its free, browser-based interface encourages experimentation and innovation, making it an excellent starting point for aspiring typographers. However, for tasks demanding intricate design capabilities, users may need to explore supplementary tools or platforms. Despite its limitations, FontStruct's simplicity and efficacy in facilitating the creation and sharing of fonts continue to attract a loyal user base, thereby maintaining its relevance in the evolving sphere of graphic design software.
