  • Sketchy Calendar
    * Built-in countdown-type events, with associated UI element that counts down for you My main desire is not switch calendaring platforms, but to figure out how to 'bolt-on' these capabilities in what I'm already living in. -- [0] https://www.hey.com/calendar/ [1] https://flexibits.com/fantastical. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago

  • Calendar advice for home + work?
I use an app called Fantastical (https://flexibits.com/fantastical). I believe it is macOS/iOS only, but there might be alternatives with work with other systems. Basically, I add in my work Office365 account and my personal iCloud and it shows everything together. Whenever I'm making an appointment, I just check that rather than my Outlook calendar. • Sick of Fastmails subpar iOS app
Looks like most of your issues are with the calendar. For this I highly recommend an app dedicated to this, like Fantastical, BusyCal, Calendar366 or even a native ios calendar app. These apps have clients for ios, macos and even watchos. Lots of config options and nice features and timely notifications. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Productivity apps - recommendations needed
I personally have been trying out Fantastical and it literally is life changing doing everything in a calendar. You can make a recurring event or something and have it notify you whenever you want. The time limit can be achieved by just creating the duration. Although I'm unsure about the "mark as done" functionality. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Whats your favourite app that can work as a calendar and also effectively time-block out tasks?
By 2022, I was hot and heavy on Todoist. It seemed like a great solution and had a ton of integrations, but it lacked in a few areas. There was no calendar view in the app. Thatโ€™s not so bad, since I do most of the scheduling in Google Calendar. But it is a little tough when try to add to-dos and see where they fit into your schedule (time blocking). Also, Todoist has this whole โ€œthingโ€ about being minimalist, but... • Reminders not showing in calendar?
There are third party apps that can show Calendar and Reminders together. If you want one that is primarily a calendar but can also show your reminders, look at Fantastical or Calendars. If you want one that is primarily a reminders app but can also show calendar events, look at GoodTask. Source: almost 3 years ago

  • Using the calendar app on your phone is a non negotiable must for everyone with ADHD!
In place of Calendar, I use Fantastical. Which has apparently added task management? Huh. News to me. It's got a pretty nice UI and natural-language parsing for adding entries. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Looking for a calendar + todo app.
Fantastical, though it's a paid product. I can't remember but I think you can keep using the free/trial version, which would still cover everything you mentioned and more. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What are the must-have apps for Mac in 2022?
From a coder perspective, these are the ones I could not live without: - Alfred - goes without saying. It's all in the name ;-) - VSCode - I used SublimeText for a long time, but VSCode is just too good to not switch. It has all I ever wanted, and I tweaked the rest :-) - 1password - I tried lots of others (Enpass, KeePass(x/ce), LastPass, BitWarden) but 1p is just another level of usability (especially with this... • Which ADHD-friendly app is the best for daily planning and reminders?
Fantastical: I canโ€™t stand the default Apple Calendar app. Itโ€™s fine, but itโ€™s extremely limited and lacks many features that are standard for modern calendar applications (this tends to happen with many of Appleโ€™s in-house apps, like Calendar and Mailโ€”they favour stability over increased functionality). • Calendar replacement that shows how many reminders per day are in weekly/monthly view
I've been using Fantastical for over a year now and it works great for me as I can see all my events and reminders for each day. iCal, Reminders, Google Calendar, and Google Tasks syncing work really well, too. There's a day ticker, a month overview, and a week view all in one screen (you can customise it, but this works for me so I've never changed it), so in one go I can see everything that's on in my week. Summary of the public mentions of Fantastical 2

Summary of Public Opinion on Fantastical 2

Fantastical 2, developed by Flexibits, is a prominent player in the calendar and productivity app sector, specifically targeted at iOS and macOS users. This calendar tool is recognized for its intuitive design and robust feature set, which makes it a popular choice among individuals seeking a comprehensive yet flexible calendaring solution.

Key Features and Usability

Fantastical 2 is touted for its natural language processing capabilities, allowing users to input events and reminders with ease using everyday language. This feature is particularly appreciated as it streamlines scheduling, enabling users to set up reminders and appointments quickly. The app also supports seamless synchronization across multiple calendars, including popular services like iCloud, Google Calendar, and Office365, which fosters a holistic view of both professional and personal commitments. Additionally, the inclusion of geofenced reminders enhances the appโ€™s utility, alerting users as they arrive or depart from specified locations.

On macOS, the app excels with its menu bar application, which provides quick access to upcoming events and the ability to create new entries without opening a full application window. This feature, alongside customizable widgets and integration with macOS features like Handoff and the share sheet extension, positions Fantastical 2 as a superior choice for convenience and multitasking on Apple devices.

User Feedback and Public Perception

Feedback from users reveals a high level of satisfaction with Fantastical 2's functionality and user interface. The application is often commended for its aesthetic balanceโ€”colorful yet not overwhelmingโ€”and its capacity to retain control over event specifics without complicating the user experience. Despite some suggestions that it is most efficacious on desktop platforms, the mobile application is still considered highly functional.

Fantastical's unique selling propositions, including recurring event setups and saved calendar sets, cater to users' needs for personalized and in-depth scheduling. Furthermore, its integration capability with various productivity tools, along with the ability to merge tasks and events under one interface, is frequently highlighted.

Challenges and Market Positioning

While Fantastical 2 is subscription-based, it also offers a free app version with core functionalities, making it accessible to a broader audience. However, some users noted working around the app's Apple-centric limitation, as it is unavailable for Android or Windows devices, which narrows its user base.

In comparison to competitors like Google Calendar and Outlook, Fantastical 2 is praised for its feature richness and task integration, although these competitors are often chosen for their platform-agnostic availability and seamless organizational ecosystem. Fach tools as Morgen.so and BusyCal offer similar but distinct functionalities that cater to different niches within the same market.

Conclusion

Overall, Fantastical 2 is regarded as a highly effective calendar and productivity tool, especially for users entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. Its advanced features, particularly in natural language processing and task-event integrations, make it a preferred choice among technically savvy users seeking efficiency and comprehensive control of their schedules.
