My go to method, which doesn't work for every game, is to search using the Everything program which is far superior to Windows search. What string of numbers you search for would be, for example, "108600" which is the number associated with Project Zomboid. See below for how I found that number. Source: 6 months ago

If you don't know where profiles.ini is located, go to voidtools.com and download Search Everything. This nifty program will help you speedily locate any file on your system just by typing a few characters of the name. The more characters you type, the more narrow the results. Be mindful of the paths in the search results ... More than one program might use a file named profiles.ini. Source: 12 months ago

I'm not a tech geek or anything, but I have an idea that might fix this. Use this program to search for every trace of minecraft by using keywords like "mojang" or "minecraft", then try downloading the minecraft installer again and see if it fixed the issue. Hope this helps! Source: about 1 year ago

I don’t use Windows to search at all. I actually only found out today about the big search menu that comes out of it when someone here asked for a screenshot of it. I use “Everything” from https://voidtools.com — I’ve never seen anything that functions as well. Not even close, much less better. Source: over 1 year ago

If you have troubles like this in the future, I recommend you just install "everything" by voidtools ( https://voidtools.com/ ), its an indexed search for windows. Type in parts of the name of the file you're looking for as in "affinity 2 .exe" and it shows you all relevant files in your computer and you can instantly interact with them as you would with a regular explorer window (make shortcuts etc.).
