Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Zero and Nomu.

What makes your product unique?

Zero's answer

The least amount of clicks and hassle to configure safe secrets management.

Nomu's answer:

The fasting timer that makes the invisible part visible

Most fasting apps are a number counting up. Nomu is a caterpillar that spins a cocoon as your body enters fat burning and emerges as a butterfly when you finish. It sounds silly. It is the reason people stop quitting at hour 13.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Zero's answer

Simplicity, ease of use and pleasure to work with.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Zero's answer

Development teams working with multiple platforms and requiring a secure API connection without storing environment variables in the source code.

What's the story behind your product?

Zero's answer

A developer tool created by a team of developers building the software for the most innovative venture capital firms like A16z and Ycombinator.

Nomu's answer:

I got tired of fasting apps that are 90% upsell and require an account to run a timer. So I built Nomu (Flutter, iOS + Android + watchOS).

The core idea: fasting phases (fat burning -> ketosis -> autophagy) are invisible, so people quit mid-fast. Nomu maps them onto a mascot that visibly transforms - caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly - and a streak system that evolves its wings over 180 days. A tamagotchi-style loop beats charts for habit retention.

Technical bits: - Local-first: SQLite on device, no accounts, no backend for user data. Export is CSV/JSON. - Flutter + native watchOS app, Home/Lock Screen widgets, Control Center controls via App Intents - Apple Health sync, live phase notifications, auto eating-window countdown - 14 locales, paired haptics + sound design for every interaction

Business model experiment: free-for-life for anyone who installs by September 11 (enforced by a date constant in the app, no server), then a hard paywall for new users only. Early users are grandfathered forever - they're the word-of-mouth engine.

Nomu is built by Tappect, the indie studio behind Nutrify, the AI calorie tracker used to log meals with a photo - see https://www.nutrifytracker.com. Both apps share the same philosophy: private by design, delightful to use daily. Nutrify ships the same local-first pattern with an on-device-first pipeline for food logging.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Nomu's answer:

Flutter App for ios and Android
