Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Opalstack

Overall verdict

  • I don't have verified, up-to-date information about Zemam (getzemam.com) to make a reliable assessment of its quality. I'd recommend researching independently before forming a judgment.

Why this product is good

  • I lack specific, verified data about this particular product or service in my training
  • Claims about a product's quality require checking current reviews, user feedback, and firsthand testing which I cannot do in real-time
  • Company websites and lesser-known products may not have widely available third-party verification
  • Providing a confident verdict without reliable information could be misleading

Recommended for

  • Anyone interested should check recent user reviews on independent platforms
  • Look for verified customer testimonials and ratings on sites like Trustpilot or Google Reviews
  • Check if the company has transparent contact information, refund policies, and business registration
  • Consider reaching out to existing users or communities for firsthand experiences
  • Verify the site's legitimacy through security checks and business verification tools before making purchases

Overall verdict

  • Opalstack is a solid choice for developers and tech-savvy users seeking an affordable, flexible control panel hosting solution with good performance and transparent pricing, though it may require more technical know-how than mainstream cPanel hosts.

Why this product is good

  • Uses a custom lightweight control panel that's fast and efficient compared to resource-heavy alternatives like cPanel
  • Offers straightforward, transparent pricing without hidden fees or aggressive upselling
  • Provides SSD storage and solid server performance for the price point
  • Supports multiple app types including Python, Node.js, and various frameworks beyond typical PHP hosting
  • Founded by the original creators of WebFaction, bringing significant hosting industry experience
  • Good for running multiple websites/apps under one account with granular resource control
  • Responsive customer support with a knowledgeable team
  • No long-term contracts required, allowing flexibility

Recommended for

  • Developers who need support for Python, Node.js, or other non-PHP applications
  • Users comfortable with a more technical, non-cPanel control panel interface
  • Small businesses or freelancers hosting multiple websites who want granular control
  • Former WebFaction users looking for a similar service after its shutdown
  • Budget-conscious users who want VPS-like flexibility without full server management
  • Users who prioritize transparent pricing over bundled marketing extras

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Zemam and Opalstack.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Zemam's answer

Zemam's backend is built with NestJS and TypeScript on PostgreSQL, with Redis for caching and background jobs. The web app uses React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS. The mobile app is built with Flutter, and the desktop point-of-sale runs on Electron.

What makes your product unique?

Zemam's answer

Zemam is built Arabic-first (right-to-left) from the ground up — not a foreign system translated into Arabic. It runs on true double-entry, IFRS-compliant accounting where every balance is derived from an immutable ledger, so your financials are always accurate and traceable. It ships with native Egyptian VAT (calculated after discount) and ETA e-invoicing, and unifies accounting, inventory, sales, an offline-capable POS, and HR/payroll in one connected system — so a single sale updates your books, stock, and customer balance automatically.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Zemam's answer

Most options force a trade-off: foreign ERPs (Odoo, Zoho, QuickBooks) are powerful but not built for Arabic or Egyptian compliance, while simple invoicing apps aren't real accounting. Zemam gives you both — Arabic-first design, native Egyptian VAT and ETA e-invoicing out of the box, and a real general-ledger accounting engine — with inventory, POS, HR, and CRM connected in one platform instead of stitched-together tools. Its POS works offline, and modular pricing lets you pay only for the features you use.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Zemam's answer

Small and medium businesses in Egypt and the wider MENA region — including retail shops, wholesale and distribution, restaurants and cafés, light manufacturing, and multi-branch operations. It's designed for owners who need Arabic-first software that handles local tax compliance (VAT, ETA) and connects their whole operation, without needing an accountant to stitch reports together.

What's the story behind your product?

Zemam's answer

Zemam was created by Smartly Coded, a Cairo-based software company. It was born from a clear gap: businesses in Egypt and MENA had to choose between foreign ERPs that don't fit Arabic or local compliance, and basic invoicing apps that can't produce real financial statements. Zemam was built Arabic-first, with Egyptian compliance (VAT, ETA) and a proper accounting engine at its core — a real operating system for the region's small and medium businesses.
