  • Learning Curve
New users coming from other development environments may face a learning curve due to Zed's unique interface and features.
  • Early Development
As a relatively new tool, Zed may still be in its early stages of development, with potential bugs and missing features that could affect stability and user experience.

agent-manager features and specs

  • Centralized Agent Management
Provides a single dashboard or interface to manage, monitor, and orchestrate multiple AI agents, making it easier to keep track of agent status, tasks, and performance without switching between different tools.
  • Streamlined Workflow Automation
Enables users to automate repetitive tasks and coordinate multi-agent workflows, potentially reducing manual overhead and increasing efficiency in complex agent-based systems.
  • Developer-Friendly Focus
Appears targeted at developers building with AI agents, suggesting integration options, APIs, or SDKs that make it easier to plug into existing development pipelines.
  • Scalability Potential
As a purpose-built platform for agent management, it may offer scalability features to handle growing numbers of agents or increasingly complex agent interactions as projects expand.
  • Modern Niche Solution
Being a specialized tool for agent management, it may offer more tailored features for AI agent orchestration compared to generic project management or automation tools.

Possible disadvantages of agent-manager

  • Limited Public Information
There is limited publicly available documentation, reviews, or case studies about this specific tool, making it difficult to fully evaluate its capabilities, reliability, or track record before adoption.
  • Possible Early-Stage Product
Given its niche domain and limited visibility, the platform may be relatively new or in early development stages, which could mean fewer features, potential bugs, or less mature support systems.
  • Uncertain Community and Support
Without an established user base or community forums, users may face challenges finding troubleshooting resources, third-party integrations, or peer support when issues arise.
  • Vendor Lock-In Risk
Adopting a specialized agent management tool could create dependency on a single vendor's ecosystem, making it harder to migrate workflows to other platforms if needed in the future.
  • Unclear Pricing and Scalability Costs
Without clear public pricing details, businesses may find it difficult to assess whether the tool fits their budget, especially as usage scales with more agents or more complex operations.

I am not talking about GLM models being served through an Anthropic compatible API. I am talking about ZCode, the harness, being unable to delegate to other harnesses, like using Claude Code (or even OpenCode) within their UI, so that an Anthropic subscription can be used, because they don't let you use 3rd party harnesses directly. With Agent Client Protocol (ACP) you can keep the same UI and switch not models, but entire agents, that means using tools/prompts/compaction/etc that are tailored for the model. That said, sometimes you do just want an editor, not a full blown IDE, and for that for the last few months I've been experimenting with Zed. It's okay. I've had some weird issues with their terminal emulator; I don't know what they are doing but my ZSH config doesn't load right so it sometimes gets stuck in what looks like an infinite loop, and then my PATH is all messed up...
