Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Workable and Sparko.

What makes your product unique?

Sparko's answer:

Sparko is AI-native across the entire HR stack, not a single-module tool with AI bolted on. Its nine modules (recruiting, people, performance, compensation, time and leave, engagement, career, and analytics) share one data model, so the AI can reason across them, pulling performance, career, and engagement signals into a single view. It pairs that cross-module AI with transparent per-employee pricing and a modern, fast interface, plus an AI assistant and predictive analytics on the higher tiers.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Sparko's answer:

Sparko is built for startups and growing companies that want the whole employee lifecycle in one system, plus AI that's genuinely useful, without enterprise-scale pricing or a heavy implementation. Pricing is transparent and per-employee: a small team pays a low monthly minimum and grows into per-seat as it hires. It's a strong fit for teams in any country, and for anyone who prefers modern UX and clear pricing over legacy enterprise suites.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Sparko's answer:

Startups and growing companies, that are outgrowing spreadsheets or a basic HR tool and want one AI-native system for HR. Works for both location based or globally distributed startups. The buyer is typically a founder, People or HR lead, Director of People or HR, who wants modern software with transparent pricing and useful AI, not a heavy enterprise rollout.

What's the story behind your product?

Sparko's answer:

Sparko came out of my own experience as a manager and Head of IT.

I wanted a system where the context about a person is already there when you need it, so reviews are fair and grounded in real evidence, hiring decisions are faster and more consistent, and growth gaps show up early enough to actually do something about them. One place for the whole people lifecycle means less admin, fewer spreadsheets, and more time spent on the conversations that matter.

That is what Sparko is. An AI native HRIS covering recruiting through to career development in one connected system, giving HR teams and managers their time back for people.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Sparko's answer:

Sparko runs on AWS, with the application deployed as containers on ECS Fargate behind Application Load Balancers, PostgreSQL on RDS as the primary datastore, and S3 for files and backups. Cloudflare handles DNS, Pages and Workers.

Security is built in at the infrastructure level, with AWS Secrets Manager for credentials and customer managed KMS keys for encrypting sensitive employee data, alongside SSO, MFA and passkeys.

The AI across all modules is powered by the Anthropic Claude API. Email runs on Amazon SES, billing on Polar, and monitoring through CloudWatch and Sentry.
