I built Wishalot because every family event ended the same way: two people showing up with the same gift, or a group chat spending a week coordinating who buys what.

The fix is simple. You make a wishlist and share one link. When someone reserves a gift, it's hidden from everyone else right away. Nobody has to check with anybody, and the surprise survives.

Guests don't sign up. They open the link in a browser, pick a gift, done. No app to install, no email to hand over.

Adding things is quick too. There's Amazon search built into the app, you can paste a product link from any store, and on your phone you can share straight from a shopping app into your list. If you don't want to start from zero, there are templates for birthdays, weddings and baby showers.

Lists are private. Only people with the link can see them, and search engines can't index them.

It's free. No paid plan, no card. Web, iOS and Android.

If Giftster or Elfster felt heavy for what you needed, or you keep hitting the limits of an Amazon wish list (Amazon-only items, clunky sharing), Wishalot is the lighter option.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing WishAlot.app and Python Examples.

What makes your product unique?

WishAlot.app's answer

The reservation model. When a guest reserves a gift on your list, it's hidden from every other guest instantly, live. Most wishlist tools stop at "here's a list", and then someone still has to mark things as purchased or coordinate in a group chat. Wishalot removes that job completely. The other half is that guests never sign up. They open your link in a browser and reserve a gift in a few taps, no account, no app.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

WishAlot.app's answer

If you tried Giftster, Elfster, or any other known registry app, and felt like you were setting up software instead of a birthday list, that's the gap. Wishalot does one flow really well: build a list, share a link, gifts get reserved on their own. And unlike an Amazon wish list, it isn't tied to one store. Amazon search is built in, but anything with a URL can go on the list. It's also completely free, with no paid tier waiting behind a feature you suddenly need.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

WishAlot.app's answer

Whoever ends up organizing the gifts. Parents making birthday lists for their kids, couples before a wedding or a baby, anyone whose family group chat turns into gift-coordination chaos every December. The list maker uses the app; their guests just click a link.

What's the story behind your product?

WishAlot.app's answer

I'm a solo founder. The celebrations in my family mean a lot to me, and I kept watching the same thing happen: duplicate gifts, spoiled surprises, and someone doing the unpaid work of coordinating everyone. I wanted the coordination to just not exist, so I built a wishlist where reserving a gift quietly takes it off the table for everyone else. That one mechanic is the whole product, everything else grew around it.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

WishAlot.app's answer

React on the front end with native iOS and Android apps, real-time sync for reservations, and the official Amazon Product Advertising API for search.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

WishAlot.app's answer

Wishalot is a consumer app, so there are no enterprise logos to drop here. The users are families and friend groups, and the product is young. Ask me again after a few more holiday seasons.
