Google Cloud SQLWallabag is recommended for users who appreciate open-source software, self-hosting capabilities, and prioritizing privacy. It's ideal for individuals who want to organize and read web content without distractions, and have the technical skills to set up and manage the application on their own servers.

I am using koreader.rocks on my ereader and KOreader has a native support for https://wallabag.org/. They are both fantastic opensource projects, whenever I like to read something I am sending them to my wallabag and therefore I can easily have them on my ereader too. Also the fact that you can install different plugin on KOreader and customize it in a way you like is fantastic. - Source: Hacker News / 13 days ago
I moved to a self-hosted Wallabag (https://wallabag.org/) after Pocket shut down. Not the sexiest but does everything I need it to. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
I'm looking into setting up Wallabag for myself, maybe it could work for you too? https://wallabag.org/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
I use KOReader [1] on my Kobo. It supports Wallabag [2]. Wallabag offers both hosted [3] and self-hosted options. There's also a standalone kobo client for Wallabag [4]. In addition, Wallabag also supports direct import from Pocket. Instapaper[1] and Wallabag[2] would be the two main alternatives to Pocket, I think. Wallabag is self-hosting although I believe there are hosted services around as well. Cannot get either of them to integrate with my Kobo ereader like Pocket does, though. :-( [1] https://www.instapaper.com/ [2] https://wallabag.org/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
By default, your Cloud Run instances connect to the internet directly. But if your service needs to reach private resources (a Cloud SQL database, a Memorystore Redis instance, an internal API), it needs VPC access. - Source: dev.to / 5 months ago
Persistence & Auth : Cloud SQL for storing chat history and feedback, and OAuth (Google, GitHub, etc.) for secure identity management. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago
Firebase Data Connect is simplifying the interaction between your applications and your databases. It presents a GraphQL interface directly on top of Cloud SQL, promising rapid development, enhanced security, and a streamlined data management experience. - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago
Seamless integration with Google Cloud: GKE integrates smoothly with other Google Cloud services like Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and, importantly, Vertex AI, where Gemini and other LLMs are hosted. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
Your app must be stateless. Don't use embedded databases. When your users hit your app again, they may be reaching another instance in a completely different state. Persist data in cloud-based storage like GCS, Cloud SQL, or Cloud Firestore. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
