Possible disadvantages of Waking Up

  • Subscription Cost

  • Complex Concepts
The app includes complex philosophical and theoretical content that may be challenging for users who prefer straightforward meditation practices without extensive theory.
  • Less Traditional
Unlike some meditation apps that focus entirely on traditional practices, Waking Up combines mindfulness with philosophical discussions, which might not appeal to users seeking purely meditative content.

As a free tool, the website may display advertisements that can be distracting and detract from the overall user experience during ZIP code searches.
  • Limited API Access
The site may not offer a well-documented or robust API for developers who want to integrate ZIP code data into their own applications or services programmatically.
  • U.S.-Only Coverage
AZIPCODE focuses exclusively on U.S. ZIP codes, which limits its usefulness for users who need postal code information for international locations.
  • Data Freshness Concerns

  • Struggles Years after TBI
The one thing that I've heard and read and been told a bunch of times is not to compare yourself now to who you were before your injury, and while there is merit to that, it's obviously really hard not to do sometimes. The thing that I try to keep in mind is that - injury or no injury - I would be different now than I was then anyway. that's just how life goes. Meditation has really helped me in this area... To... • Why does Sam describe himself as a "Neuroscientist" and a "Philosopher" on his website?
Am I missing something? I canโ€™t find mention of โ€œphilosopherโ€ on samharris.org or wakingup.com. I see a mention of neuroscientist, but I think a PhD degree should allow you to call yourself that. As for credibility in both areas, check citations to his works - books (philosophy) as well as scientific papers (neuroscience). Source: over 3 years ago
  • Need Help
It's cliche, but try to take it one day at a time, one step at a time. meditation has helped me out a lot over the years... If you want to at least give it a shot, you can do a free 30-day trial at wakingup.com. I've made it part of my morning routine and, though it's not a cure-all, it really can get you in the right headspace to start your day with a little less stress. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What is mindfulness/meditation in a nutshell, what is it, what do you do?
I use the Waking Up app. There are a number of free lessons available in the app. Try them. This is my "top tip". Source: over 3 years ago
