Basic VAT APIs usually return only valid: true. vatnode returns a richer audit-ready validation record: VIES consultation number for qualified checks, checkId, verifiedAt, source authority, company data, and country VAT rate details in one REST response.

vatnode returns the official VIES consultation number for qualified checks โ a piece of evidence most commercial VAT validation APIs don't surface. Combined with checkId and verifiedAt fields in every response, it gives finance and engineering teams a defensible record they can store with each invoice. When VIES is unavailable, vatnode falls back to national tax authority APIs across multiple EU countries instead of just failing the check.
