I'm currently trying to popularize Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/ Vimeo is a great alternative to Youtube and really it's only downside is that is has very little users. Because Vimeo is just NOT a bunch of greedy assholes like Youtube, you can actually earn more on vimeo than on youtube in a lot of the cases. It's a server management service, they use AWS (or your host of choice) under the hood. I personally use something similar called Runcloud which I haven't had any problems with. It's a halfway house between a managed platform and your own VPS. Means you don't have to worry about security, vhosts, ssl certificates, restricting access etc... For PHP https://platform.sh has got a lot of traction, but it's notc cheap especially for small apps.
