Four years ago I built a simple web-based image compressor and shared it online. People used it, but the recurring pushback was: was it really processing locally, or uploading photos to a server โ and could it just be a native app instead? I didn't have a good answer at the time, so I said I'd figure out the technical issues later. It took a few years, but ImgZilla is that answer โ a native macOS app that runs fully offline and compresses in place, built to finally close the gap that old thread left open.
