TransferWise Debit Card 6 features
PostSharp 5 features
  • Low conversion fees
Wise offers competitive and transparent foreign exchange rates with low fees, making it cost-effective for international transactions.
  • Multi-currency support
The Wise debit card supports multiple currencies, allowing you to hold and spend money in various currencies without needing to convert funds.
  • Global acceptance
As a Mastercard, the Wise debit card is accepted worldwide wherever the Mastercard logo is displayed.
  • ATM withdrawals
You can withdraw money from ATMs around the world, with lower fees compared to many traditional banks.
  • No monthly fees
There are no monthly maintenance fees for holding the Wise debit card, which is beneficial for occasional users.
  • Easy management
The Wise app provides a user-friendly interface for managing your card, tracking spending, and transferring money.

Possible disadvantages

  • ATM withdrawal limits
While Wise provides free ATM withdrawals up to a certain limit, exceeding that limit incurs additional fees.
  • Limited customer support
Customer support may not be as comprehensive or as readily available as traditional banks, which may be inconvenient for users needing prompt assistance.
  • Non-supported countries
The Wise debit card is not available in certain countries, limiting its usability for some international customers.
  • No credit line
The Wise card is a debit card, so it does not offer a line of credit or the ability to borrow money like a credit card does.
  • Initial delivery time
The physical card may take some time to be delivered, which could be inconvenient for users needing instant access.
  • Foreign ATM fees
Depending on the ATM operator, there might be additional fees for cash withdrawals outside your home country.
  • Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP)
PostSharp allows developers to implement AOP in .NET projects, which helps in separating cross-cutting concerns like logging, error handling, or validation, making the code cleaner and easier to maintain.
  • Code Reusability
By using aspects, developers can write code that can be easily reused across different parts of an application, reducing redundancy and improving efficiency.
  • Maintainability
PostSharp helps to create a more modular codebase. With cross-cutting concerns handled separately, it becomes easier to manage and modify without affecting the core business logic.
  • Performance
PostSharp weaves aspects into compiled code at build time, which generally leads to better runtime performance compared to other AOP approaches that might involve reflection or dynamic proxies.
  • Rich Library of Aspects
It provides a comprehensive library of pre-built aspects like caching, threading, and security, which can accelerate development by reducing the need to implement common functionalities from scratch.

Possible disadvantages

  • Learning Curve
For developers unfamiliar with AOP, there might be a steep learning curve to understand and effectively leverage PostSharp's capabilities.
  • Debugging Complexity
The abstraction layer introduced by aspects can make debugging more challenging as it might not be immediately clear where certain behaviors or errors originate from.
  • Cost
PostSharp is a commercial product with licensing fees, which might be a concern for small projects or organizations with limited budgets.
  • Build Time Overhead
The process of weaving aspects into the code can increase the time taken for builds, which might be noticeable and frustrating for very large projects.
  • Vendor Lock-in
Relying heavily on PostSharp-specific features might lead to challenges if there's a need to switch to a different AOP framework or if PostSharp's development ceases.

  • Invoicing foreign country
You can get a European bank account with Wise and transfer the money to your SA bank account at much lower fees than PayPal or whatnot. You will also get much better conversion rates than having the company do SWIFT payments into your SA... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Looking for a UK bank account that I can use to pay bills/direct debits to French companies. Credit Agricole Britline turned me down :(
Have you looked into a Wise multi currency account? I believe you can setup SEPA (euro) direct debits with it as well as send SEPA transfers in euros with low fees: https://wise.com/gb/multi-currency-account/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Joint bank account
If not, I would also recommend Wise. It's a great service, especially if you are going to need to fund the account with both GBP and EUR. Not only can you use Wise to move GBP to EUR, you could also use it as a multi-currency bank account. Source: over 4 years ago
