  • Non-supported countries

  • Remote Development
Codespaces allows developers to work from virtually anywhere without needing to rely on the power of their local machines.

Possible disadvantages

  • Cost
Using Codespaces incurs a cost based on compute and storage resources, which can add up, especially for larger teams or more intensive projects.
  • Internet Reliance
Codespaces are cloud-based, so a stable internet connection is required. Any disruption in connectivity can hinder development progress.
  • Customization Limitations
While customizable, Codespaces may not support all specific or advanced development setups or niche tools as effectively as local environments.
  • Performance Variability
Performance might vary depending on the selected instance type and current load on GitHub's infrastructure.
  • Dependency on GitHub Ecosystem
Codespaces are tightly integrated with GitHub, which could be a downside for teams that use other platforms or who prefer a more platform-independent solution.

  • Invoicing foreign country
You can get a European bank account with Wise and transfer the money to your SA bank account at much lower fees than PayPal or whatnot. You will also get much better conversion rates than having the company do SWIFT payments into your SA... Source: over 3 years ago
  • Looking for a UK bank account that I can use to pay bills/direct debits to French companies. Credit Agricole Britline turned me down :(
Have you looked into a Wise multi currency account? I believe you can setup SEPA (euro) direct debits with it as well as send SEPA transfers in euros with low fees: https://wise.com/gb/multi-currency-account/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Joint bank account
If not, I would also recommend Wise. It's a great service, especially if you are going to need to fund the account with both GBP and EUR. Not only can you use Wise to move GBP to EUR, you could also use it as a multi-currency bank account. Source: over 4 years ago
