Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing TinyURL and slsh.me.

What makes your product unique?

slsh.me's answer:

The free plan includes the things shorteners usually charge for: your own domain (one CNAME and you're done), real-time analytics, social cards you can design right in the app, QR codes, password-protected links, and an API. There's also one rule I won't break: links never stop redirecting. Not when you hit a plan cap, not when you downgrade. I don't bill for traffic either.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

slsh.me's answer:

Most tools in this category put branded domains and analytics behind a $29/month plan, and your links can go dark when you stop paying. Here both are free, old links keep working whether or not you ever pay me, and there are no per-click fees. The paid plans buy volume, not features held hostage. You can also export everything as CSV or JSON whenever you feel like it.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

slsh.me's answer:

Three groups keep showing up. Marketers who UTM-tag everything and need the Friday report to not be a spreadsheet-merging exercise. Developers who'd rather POST to an API than click around a dashboard. And creators who care what the link card looks like when it lands in someone's feed.

What's the story behind your product?

slsh.me's answer:

I kept hitting the same wall on my own projects: the moment you want a short link on your own domain with halfway decent analytics, it's $29 a month, and if the subscription lapses your links break. That always felt wrong for what is, at its core, an HTTP redirect. So I built the version I wanted: the basics free, no hostage-taking. It's a one-person product.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

slsh.me's answer:

Rails 8 and PostgreSQL, Hotwire and Tailwind on the front end. Analytics are first-party, no third-party scripts or cookies.

u/Migmag360 The reason your post cannot be posted and/or approved by us is because it contains a Bitchute link--which reddit bans. You have to mask the link using TinyURL. And then re-post it again with the new link instead. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Does the Atomic Bomb exist? Part 2
u/fedx0 I have approved this post, the reason it's still banned by Reddit is because of the Bitchute links, you cannot post Bitchute links on Reddit. If you remove the links to Bitchute, or disguise the Bitchute links using TinyUrl and re-post the article, then it should be fine. If not then you will have to post the article somewhere else, then post the link to it on here instead. Source: almost 4 years ago
