I don't use a 'method'. I use a timer for stuff I don't want to do. I use timer-tab.com A LOT and I also have one of those visual timers. I don't use it all day, and I don't use it for everything. If I need to do something that is boring as hell, like some routine thing for my job, I just set the timer for 10 or 20 minutes. That's it. There is no point in making it complicated. Timer-tab.com is also great, though you can't embed it in a PPT (at least not easily) - you can set any amount of time, the time will fit your window (great if you need to split the screen), and you can set the background and alarm sound. Both these tools are amazing in their own right; however, I want to learn how these processes operate on a much lower level. It's not as monolithic as you'd think. There are lots of engines out there but their communities aren't very vocal compared to Unity, Unreal, and especially Godot's community.
