  • Dependency on Platform
Relying on Substack means depending on its policies and infrastructure, which could pose risks if the platform changes its terms or features.
  • Competition
As more writers join Substack, it can become challenging to stand out amidst the growing competition.
  • Email Deliverability
Writers may face issues with email deliverability, as some newsletters may end up in spam folders.

  • Slow internet issues with lots of uncorrectables
Hello! Ever since moving into a new house, I've haven't been getting the speeds I've expecting. Specifically, videos and websites will fail to load or load extremely slowly most of the time. The odd thing is, when running a speed test (tested using both testmy.net and speedtest.net on Firefox with my laptop wired via ethernet), I'll get 5 mbs down on the first test, 100 mbs on the second test, then back down to 15... T-Mobile - 5G WI-FI decently priced... If it only worked! Below I'll post my results from a few hours of a test I did today using Testmy.net. This is an every day occurrence. You could be watching a YouTube video at a nice 1080p60, but then it'll switch to buffering for about 5-15 minutes on average. Or you can watch it on 144p or 240p "with some buffering". The longest downtime was for about 45 minutes to date. Source: about 3 years ago

Sure there was basically a cartel in social media. You saw coordinated censorship campaigns to ban the former president of the United States for example. But I wouldn't discount the amount of political interference there as well. The last administration admitted to flagging individual posts for the social media companies. But it's also true there is a lot of coordinated censorship even without state interference.... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago

The thing is, even the center of the road academics who refrain from such comparisons are noting the similarity. The MAGA movement meets the traditional defining characteristics of fascio.
