Tempolio is an all-in-one time tracking, project management, and invoicing tool for independent freelancers.
Most freelancers pay for three separate tools. Toggl tracks time well but has no built-in invoicing, so you need a second tool to bill. FreshBooks invoices well, but its time tracking is an afterthought. Notion manages projects but knows nothing about your hours or your money. That's roughly $39/month for three apps that don't talk to each other, and a lot of copy-pasting between tabs.
Tempolio covers the whole pipeline in one place: track time against a project, manage the work, generate the invoice from those exact hours, send it as a PDF, and mark it paid.

Tempolio closes the gap between the hours you track and the invoice you send.
Almost every tool in this category stops at the timer. You log your hours beautifully, and then you export a CSV, open a second app, and retype those hours as invoice line items. That handoff is where billable work quietly leaks.
In Tempolio the timer, the project, and the invoice are the same system. You track time against a project, and when the work is done those exact hours become the invoice โ one click, PDF, emailed to the client. No export, no second tool, no retyping.
It's also built for one person on purpose. No seats, no team features, no surveillance.

It depends on what's currently annoying you.
If you use Toggl: the timer is excellent, but there's no invoicing, so you're paying for and maintaining a second tool just to bill. Tempolio does both.
If you use Harvest or Clockify: you're likely feeling recent pricing changes. Tempolio is free during beta.
If you use FreshBooks: the invoicing is strong but the time tracking is an afterthought. Tempolio treats tracked hours as the source of the invoice, not a side feature.
If you're stitching together Toggl + Notion + FreshBooks: that's roughly $39/month for three apps that don't talk to each other. Tempolio is one.
Where Tempolio doesn't win: it has no desktop or mobile apps, no browser extension, no automatic background tracking, and no third-party integrations. If those matter to you, Toggl is the more mature tool and I'd say so honestly.

I'm a freelance web designer, and I was running Toggl for time, Notion for projects, and a spreadsheet for invoices. Every month I'd export hours from one, dig up what I'd promised in another, and rebuild the same invoice by hand.
The frustrating part wasn't any single tool. Each one was good. The frustration was that the hours I'd tracked and the invoice I had to send lived in different universes, and I was the integration layer.
So I built the thing I wanted: track the hour, attach it to the project, and let the invoice write itself from what's already there. Tempolio is that. It's free while it's in beta, and it's built by someone who uses it to get paid.
