PackPilot generates the list from the trip itself:

The bag-weight tracking and Panic Pack Mode have no equivalent in a template-based app or a manual checklist.

• The list is generated, not maintained. With a notes app or a template you are editing the same list every trip. PackPilot starts from the trip and produces something specific to it.
• Bags are treated as constraints, not categories. Most apps group items by type. PackPilot assigns them to a bag and tracks weight, so airline limits are visible before you reach the airport rather than at the desk.
• It is genuinely free. No advertising, no in-app purchases, no subscription, and no advertising SDK in the build, which is why the permission list is short.

PackPilot started from a specific observation: packing apps almost all solve the wrong half of the problem. They give you somewhere to keep a list, but the list itself still has to come from you, so every trip begins by editing last trip's list.

The premise was that the generation is the hard part. If an app knows where you are going, for how long, what the weather will be and what you plan to do, it should be able to produce the list rather than store it.

Two constraints shaped the build. It had to work offline, because a packing list is useless the moment it needs a connection you do not have at an airport. And it had to carry no advertising SDK, because an ad-funded utility is pushed toward keeping you on screen, while a packing app should get you finished and out the door.

It is built by Welltide Software, the consumer product division of Cogniq AI.
