Sumri is purpose-built for studying rather than being a general-purpose AI chat. Students start with their own supported study materials—notes, PDFs, documents, images or public links—and Sumri transforms them into a structured Study Kit containing an Academic Summary, Simple Explanation, Definitions, Smart Quiz and Ask.

The entire experience is designed around moving from material to understanding, revision, self-testing and follow-up questions. Sumri also supports English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Hindi and Simplified Chinese, with Study Kit language selectable independently from the app interface.

Sumri is designed specifically around the study process. Instead of requiring students to repeatedly prompt a general AI assistant for summaries, explanations, quizzes and questions, Sumri organizes these capabilities into a structured Study Kit based on the student's own material.

Students can use one app to understand difficult content, review important concepts, test themselves with Smart Quiz and ask follow-up questions. Its multilingual support also makes the experience accessible to students studying across several major languages.

Sumri grew out of first-hand exposure to how students actually study. As a lecturer, I regularly see students dealing with dense lecture materials, limited study time and the difficulty of turning large amounts of academic content into something they can genuinely understand and revise.

The rise of generative AI created powerful new possibilities, but most AI products began with an open chat box rather than the student's actual study workflow.

Sumri was built around a different starting point: give students a purpose-built study environment where their own materials can become structured Study Kits for understanding, revision, self-testing and questions.
