Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing StudyGrab and StudySnag.

What makes your product unique?

StudyGrab's answer

We find the best paid studies so you don't have to. One subscription · All platforms · Updated every 30 minutes.

StudySnag's answer:

StudySnag is an aggregator, not another research panel. Most paid study platforms are a single source: you sign up, you wait, you see whatever that one panel happens to be running. StudySnag pulls openings from many panels into a single feed so you see everything available at once.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

StudyGrab's answer

You can browse the feed for free after onboarding. A subscription is required to register for studies.

StudySnag's answer:

Because the alternative is signing up for a dozen panels separately and checking each one.

User Interviews, Respondent, Prolific and Survey Junkie are all single sources. Each shows you only its own inventory, each has its own screener and each leaves you refreshing a dashboard hoping something matches. To see the full market you would need accounts on all of them.

StudySnag does that aggregation for you. One place to browse, one place to compare payouts, one place to find the study that actually fits your availability. It also covers ground the UX research panels do not, most notably paid clinical trials, which typically pay at the top of the range.

It costs nothing to use. StudySnag surfaces the study and connects you to register, then the study provider pays you directly on completion.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

StudySnag's answer:

US based students and recent graduates looking for flexible remote income they can fit between classes. No specialist skills or equipment needed and most studies can be done from a laptop in under an hour.

Beyond students, StudySnag is open to anyone based in the US who wants to be paid for their opinions. Researchers need participants from every demographic, so the audience widens to include remote workers, parents, retirees and people with specific medical conditions who qualify for clinical trials.

The common thread is people who want meaningful one off payouts rather than the cent per survey grind of traditional survey sites.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

StudySnag's answer:

  • Next.js (App Router)
  • React
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Vercel
  • Umami Analytics
  • Google Analytics

What's the story behind your product?

StudySnag's answer:

StudySnag started because I was a broke student who got paid $150 for a 90 minute focus group and could not believe it was real.

I went looking for more. What I found was a mess. Every research panel runs its own site, its own signup and its own screener, and none of them talk to each other. I ended up with accounts on nine different platforms, checking all of them between classes, and still missing studies because they filled before I refreshed.

So I built the thing I wanted: one feed with every open study in it. I shared it with a few people in my program, they shared it with their friends, and it kept going from there.

Today StudySnag surfaces 890+ paid studies a week to more than 14,000 members across the US. It is still free, it still takes an email address and nothing else, and I still use it myself.

Shorter version if the field feels long: I was a student who got paid $150 for a 90 minute focus group and went looking for more. The problem was that every research panel runs its own separate site, so finding studies meant maintaining nine accounts and checking all of them daily.

I built StudySnag to put every open study in one feed. I shared it with people in my program, it spread, and it now surfaces 890+ studies a week to over 14,000 members. Free, no password, US only.

The founder angle is worth keeping. Directories and their readers respond to a real person more than to corporate voice, and "student built this for students" matches your audience exactly.
