I kept needing one thing: a person, cleanly cut out, on a transparent background. Every route to it was bad. Set up a green screen (I don't have the space or lighting). Rotoscope frame by frame (hours). Or upload to an online tool and get the result back with a watermark across the subject's face, or as an MP4 with the transparency silently flattened. AI matting had gotten good enough that none of this should still be necessary — the models were there, the tooling around them wasn't. Frontend is React 19 on TanStack Start, TypeScript throughout, Tailwind and shadcn/ui, Drizzle ORM against D1. AI matting inference runs on fal.ai — no self-hosted GPUs. Post-processing (background replace, blur, green-screen composite) runs client-side via WebCodecs, so those passes never round-trip to a server. Auth is Better Auth, billing is Stripe.
