Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing StackGo and Homeniac.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Homeniac's answer:

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase (PostgreSQL), Cloudflare Workers, Anthropic Claude, Stripe, Resend

What makes your product unique?

Homeniac's answer:

It's built only for Canadian homes. The plan is generated from your province, your home's age and your actual appliances, so the timing matches your climate and every cost estimate is in Canadian dollars. Setup is minutes, not an evening: scan an appliance data plate with your phone and the plan gets sharper as you add more of your home. It works fully in English and French.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Homeniac's answer:

Most home maintenance apps are either inventory tools that store records but never tell you what to do, or US-built planners with USD pricing and a climate calendar that doesn't fit a Canadian winter. Homeniac does the planning for you, on your province's timing, and includes real maintenance planning on the free plan instead of locking it behind a subscription. The AI advisor knows your home and answers in plain language with Canadian-dollar ballparks, so you can sanity-check a contractor quote before you pay it.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Homeniac's answer:

Everyday Canadian homeowners or property managers, not contractors. Typically first-time buyers who never received a manual for their house, owners of older homes trying to stay ahead of expensive failures, and people in cold-climate provinces where missing a fall task means an emergency call in January.

What's the story behind your product?

Homeniac's answer:

Homeniac started when I bought my first home in Calgary. It was the biggest purchase of my life, and it came with no manual. I had no idea what needed doing, when, or how, and every checklist I found online was written for a US climate, priced in USD, or angling to sell me a contractor visit. I built the tool I wished I'd had that first year: a plan for your actual home, on your province's timing, in Canadian dollars, with nobody upselling you at the end. I still run it solo from Calgary.
