Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing SQLite and Yappa.

What makes your product unique?

Yappa's answer:

Most productivity apps and CRM tools make the same trade-off: they give you convenience in exchange for your data. Your notes go to Google's servers. Your customers go to Salesforce's cloud. Your expenses go to some startup's database. You get features — they get your data.

Yappa makes a different trade-off: everything stays on your device.

  1. THE ONLY APP THAT COMBINES PERSONAL + BUSINESS TOOLS OFFLINE

Every other app in this space picks a lane — either personal productivity or business CRM. Yappa covers both in a single offline app. Your expense tracker, your todo list, your notes, your file locker, your reminders — and your full business CRM — all in one place, all without internet.

  1. TRULY FREE — NO STRINGS ATTACHED

"Free" usually means freemium — limited features, locked behind an upgrade prompt. Yappa is free in the original sense: every feature, for every user, forever. No contact limits. No storage caps. No premium tier. No reason to upgrade because there is nothing to upgrade to.

  1. NO ACCOUNT — EVER

Most apps require an account before you can use a single feature. Yappa doesn't. Download, open, start using. No email, no phone number, no verification. Your identity is completely unknown to us because we have no way to know it.

  1. WHATSAPP CAMPAIGNS WITHOUT AN API

Every WhatsApp marketing tool charges monthly fees and requires API access. Yappa's Reach feature works differently — it opens WhatsApp directly on your phone with your message pre-filled. You tap send. No third-party service, no monthly fee, no risk of your number getting banned. Just you and your customers.

  1. BUILT FOR MARKETS WHERE INTERNET IS UNRELIABLE

Designed from the ground up for users in India and other markets where mobile connectivity is inconsistent. Every feature — including reminders, CRM, and campaigns — works in airplane mode, in rural areas, on trains, and in basements. No connectivity required. No functionality lost.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Yappa's answer:

YAPPA VS GOOGLE KEEP / EVERNOTE / NOTION These apps store your notes on their servers. Google Keep requires a Google account. Evernote's free tier is heavily restricted. Notion is powerful but complex, cloud-dependent, and overkill for everyday notes. Yappa stores everything on your device, requires no account, and works without internet — forever free with no feature limits.

YAPPA VS TODOIST / ANY.DO / MICROSOFT TO DO Every major todo app syncs to the cloud. Todoist's free tier limits projects. Any.do pushes upgrades constantly. Microsoft To Do requires a Microsoft account. Yappa's todo list is unlimited, offline, and requires nothing to get started.

YAPPA VS HUBSPOT / ZOHO CRM HubSpot and Zoho are built for sales teams — complex to set up, cloud-only, and aggressive with upselling. Their free tiers are designed to frustrate you into upgrading. Yappa is built for solo operators and small teams who need customer management, lead tracking, and payment recording — simple, fast, and offline.

YAPPA VS OKCREDIT / KHATABOOK OkCredit and Khatabook are focused on credit ledgers and require internet for SMS reminders. Yappa goes further — full customer profiles, lead pipeline, payment history, message templates, and WhatsApp campaigns — all without internet or a third-party service.

YAPPA VS WATI / AISENSY / INTERAKT These WhatsApp marketing tools charge ₹2,000–₹10,000 per month and require WhatsApp Business API approval. Yappa's Reach feature achieves the same outcome — sending personalised messages to your customer list — through WhatsApp directly on your phone. Zero monthly fee. Zero API setup. Zero risk of getting banned.

YAPPA VS EXPENSIFY / MONEY MANAGER Expensify requires an account and syncs data to the cloud. Most expense apps are either subscription-based or ad-supported. Yappa's expense tracker is fully offline, completely free, and exports PDF reports — with no account and no cloud dependency.

THE BOTTOM LINE Yappa is the only app that combines personal productivity tools and a full business CRM in a single offline package — completely free, with no account, no ads, and no data leaving your device. For users who value privacy, simplicity, and reliability without internet, there is no direct equivalent.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Yappa's answer:

Yappa is built for three overlapping audiences:

  1. PRIVACY-CONSCIOUS INDIVIDUALS People who are tired of every productivity app requiring a Google account, syncing data to unknown servers, and monetising their usage patterns. Users who have tried to degoogle their phone, reduce cloud dependency, or simply want their personal notes and expenses to stay personal. Yappa gives them a complete offline alternative to the Google productivity stack — no account, no tracking, no compromise.

  2. SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND FREELANCERS Solo operators, freelancers, consultants, tutors, coaches, tailors, repair shop owners, salon owners, and anyone running a small business from their phone. People who need to manage customers, track leads, record payments, and stay in touch with their client base — but can't justify paying ₹2,000/month for a CRM tool built for large sales teams. Yappa gives them a complete offline CRM at zero cost.

  3. USERS IN CONNECTIVITY-CHALLENGED MARKETS People in India, Southeast Asia, Africa, and other markets where mobile internet is unreliable, expensive, or simply unavailable in their working area. Field sales agents, rural business owners, travellers, and anyone who has lost work because an app required internet to function. Yappa is designed from the ground up to work in these conditions — every feature, every time, regardless of connectivity.

COMMON THREAD All three audiences share one belief: their data belongs to them. Not to a cloud provider. Not to an analytics company. Not to a server they don't control. Yappa is built for people who take that belief seriously.

What's the story behind your product?

Yappa's answer:

Yappa started with a single frustrated user — my yoga master.

He was running a small yoga studio, managing 40+ students entirely from memory and a worn-out notebook. He needed to track attendance, send payment reminders, follow up with students who hadn't shown up in weeks, and occasionally send a message to everyone about a schedule change.

Every app I showed him had the same problem. Google Keep wanted a Google account he didn't have. OkCredit needed internet to send reminders. WhatsApp marketing tools charged more per month than he earned in two classes. CRM software like HubSpot was so complex he closed it within five minutes.

He didn't need a platform. He needed a tool.

So I built him one.

The first version of Yappa was simple — a contact list, a payment log, and a reminder system. Completely offline. No account. Free. It took him about 10 minutes to learn and he's used it every day since.

But as I shared it with others — freelancers, shop owners, tutors, field sales agents — the same pattern appeared everywhere. Smart, hardworking people managing their businesses from memory and WhatsApp chats, not because they lacked discipline, but because every tool available was either too expensive, too complex, or too dependent on internet connectivity they couldn't rely on.

Yappa v1.1.0 is the answer to that pattern. A complete offline personal assistant and business CRM — expenses, todos, notes, reminders, file locker, customers, leads, payments, templates, and WhatsApp reach campaigns. Built for the yoga master. Built for everyone like him.

No cloud. No account. No ads. Free forever.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Yappa's answer:

Yappa is built using the following primary technologies:

FRAMEWORK React Native (via Expo) — cross-platform mobile framework that enables a single codebase to run natively on both Android and iOS. Chosen for its performance, offline capability, and native device API access.

LANGUAGE TypeScript — strongly typed JavaScript superset used throughout the entire codebase for reliability and maintainability.

NAVIGATION Expo Router — file-based routing system built on React Navigation, used for all in-app screen navigation and tab management.

LOCAL STORAGE AsyncStorage (@react-native-async-storage) — lightweight, offline-first key-value storage for all app data. No external database, no server, no sync layer. Data lives entirely on the device.

NOTIFICATIONS Expo Notifications — local notification scheduling and delivery. All reminders fire directly from the device without any push notification server or internet connection.

FILE HANDLING Expo Document Picker + Expo Image Picker — native file and image selection for the File Locker feature.

CONTACTS Expo Contacts — native device contacts integration for importing customer information.

DATE & TIME @react-native-community/datetimepicker — native date and time picker for reminders and expense logging.

UI & ICONS @expo/vector-icons — icon library used throughout the app UI. React Navigation Bottom Tabs — tab-based navigation structure.

BUILD & DISTRIBUTION EAS (Expo Application Services) — used for building and submitting production builds to Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

PLATFORM Android (Google Play Store) iOS (Apple App Store)

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Yappa's answer:

Yappa is an early-stage indie app launched in 2025. As a 100% offline app with no account system, we do not collect user data or know who our customers are by design — that's the whole point.

What we do know from user feedback and reviews is that Yappa is being used by:

FREELANCERS & INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONALS Freelance designers, developers, writers, photographers, and consultants using Yappa to manage clients, track project payments, and send follow-up messages without paying for CRM software.

SMALL SHOP OWNERS Kirana store owners, medical shop owners, tailors, repair shops, and salons in India using the Customers and Payments features to manage their regular clientele and track outstanding balances.

TUTORS & COACHES Yoga instructors, fitness trainers, private tutors, and music teachers managing student lists, collecting fees, and sending batch WhatsApp reminders for class schedules.

FIELD SALES AGENTS Sales representatives working in semi-urban and rural markets in India who need lead tracking and customer notes that work without mobile data.

PRIVACY-CONSCIOUS INDIVIDUALS Users across India, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America who have consciously moved away from Google and cloud-based productivity apps and use Yappa as their daily personal assistant.

As a free, offline, no-account app — our users choose us precisely because we don't know who they are.
