Https://splashsnap.com/ has been built to do exactly this. I've integrated it in iOS Shortcuts, meaning images can automatically be generated and set as wallpapers, all in the background! Technical : I started with what I thought was going to be the hardest feature - the animated background. The subtle changing colors remind me of how waves come and go out of view.
