What's the story behind your product?

SpeakDiary's answer

The story is quite simple. I spent days on end struggling with a constant flux of thoughts into the night, which in turn reduced the quality of my sleep and made it hard to go to bed when I wanted to. Some thoughts I shared with my partner which only felt good when he paid me any attention; other thoughts just consumed me because I felt like talking about them wouldn't help and I just wished I had a way to write them in a safe space of my own making. I needed a tool to help set my mind at ease by allowing me to share my thoughts in various formats on different days based on my mood, let's me escape dire situations by allowing me to write myself into a different life where things feel like they make sense, and helps me keep track of my mood from time to time.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

SpeakDiary's answer

I used:

  • React via Vite to build out the core features
  • TailwindCSS for quick styling and positioning of components
  • TypeScript for efficiency in catching type errors
  • Firebase for the backend
  • Openai API for generative assistance(text completion, suggestions, autocorrections, multilingual support)

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

SpeakDiary's answer

This is a free tool so all my users are people from Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit, among other platforms. I have no specific people who stand out that I can list yet.

An Engaging Journalling App for Self Discovery

As someone with ADHD, I've always struggled to maintain a consistent journaling practice, but SpeakDiary has transformed my experience. This app is a game-changer for me, it blends traditional journaling with current tech to create an engaging experience.

I am 100% more likely to return to an app when there is a sense of progress, being able to see my writing streaks and track my personal goals has been motivating and this app makes that process simple and user friendly.

The daily prompts and the voice-to-text features are awesome. The prompts spark my creativity, that takes the difficult part out of trying to think about something meaningful to journal each day. Then the ability to speak my thoughts aloud makes the process effortless ensuring that I can get my thoughts down when and wherever.

The UI is an absolute delight. It's colorful, inviting, and incredibly easy to navigate. I appreciate the attention to detail and the way the app seamlessly integrates all of its features to create a cohesive experience.

One of my favorite little touches is the ability to select my daily mood using emojis. It's a simple but impactful feature that allows me to better track and understand my emotional journey, adding an extra layer of self-awareness to my daily routine.

I highly recommend giving SpeakDiary a try.
