Spa Ledger is a weekly financial AI native CFO service built for medical spa owners. Most med spa P&Ls look fine until they don't. Revenue lines up, COGS looks reasonable, and net profit is short by $40K at year end with no obvious explanation.

The problem is usually injectables. Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Sculptra all have a theoretical cost and a realized cost that diverges based on how each provider reconstitutes and administers product. A provider who wastes 3 units per vial runs at a different margin than one who wastes 6. Standard booking and accounting software collapses this into one line. Spa Ledger tracks it per provider, per vial, per week.

Every week clients get a P&L by service line (injectables, laser, skincare, retail), a provider yield report, and a device ROI tracker that flags whether capital equipment is hitting break-even on booked hours. For practices with multiple locations, each location gets its own P&L with a consolidated roll-up.

Spa Ledger connects to QuickBooks Online or Xero and pulls data from booking platforms including Jane, Mindbody, Boulevard, and Zenoti. Setup takes one business day.

Built for practices doing $25K to $500K monthly revenue that are tired of learning their margins in December.

assertpy features and specs

  • Fluent API
Assertpy offers a fluent API that makes assertions more readable and expressive, enabling developers to write assertions in a natural language style that is easy to understand.
  • Chainable Assertions
It allows for chainable assertions, enabling multiple checks to be performed in a single line of code, thereby reducing verbosity and enhancing clarity.
  • Comprehensive Assertion Methods
The library provides a wide range of built-in assertion methods, catering to various types of data validations, such as checking for size, type, value, and more.
  • Extensibility
Assertpy supports extending its functionality by defining custom assertions, allowing developers to tailor it to their specific needs.
  • Pythonic
Designed with Pythonic principles in mind, Assertpy fits seamlessly into Python projects, enabling idiomatic and consistent code style.

Possible disadvantages of assertpy

  • Learning Curve
Developers new to the library may encounter a learning curve due to the distinct approach of using fluent and chainable assertions as opposed to traditional methods.
  • Limited by Python Version
The library may have limitations in terms of compatibility with older versions of Python, requiring users to ensure their environment is up-to-date.
  • Performance Overhead
The additional abstraction layer introduced by a fluent interface might introduce some performance overhead, especially in performance-critical or resource-constrained environments.
  • Less Community Support
Compared to more established testing libraries, Assertpy might have less community support and fewer resources available for resolving issues or getting help.
  • Dependency Management
Using a third-party library introduces additional dependencies to manage, which could complicate project maintenance and compatibility.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Spa Ledger and assertpy.

What makes your product unique?

Spa Ledger's answer

Weekly P&L by service line, with injectable cost tracking per provider. Most med spa accounting software reports revenue by appointment type. Spa Ledger reconciles actual vial usage against booked units and flags the gap by provider, every week. The result is a realized cost number, not a theoretical one.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Spa Ledger's answer

General bookkeeping firms don't know what Sculptra reconstitution variance means. Generic accounting software doesn't track device break-even by booked hours. Spa Ledger is purpose-built for med spa economics: injectable yield, service line margin, and provider-level profitability are the default outputs, not custom reports you have to request.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Spa Ledger's answer

Medical spa owners and practice managers doing $25K to $500K in monthly revenue who use QuickBooks or Xero and want weekly P&L visibility by service line without hiring a full-time CFO.

What's the story behind your product?

Spa Ledger's answer

Built after seeing med spa owners consistently surprised by year-end margins despite strong top-line revenue. The pattern was the same: injectable waste, device underutilization, and labor allocated incorrectly across service lines. Monthly reporting wasn't catching it fast enough. Spa Ledger was built to surface those gaps weekly.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Spa Ledger's answer

QuickBooks Online, Xero, Jane App, Mindbody, Boulevard, Zenoti. Data is pulled from connected booking and accounting platforms. No separate software to install.
