Questions and Answers

As answered by people managing SmartScope and ScopeCone.

What makes your product unique?

ScopeCone's answer:

ScopeCone treats estimation as a continuous, evolving practice rather than a one-week chore. It visualizes uncertainty and confidence over time, so teams can refine plans as they learn more instead of locking themselves into guesses made under pressure.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ScopeCone's answer:

Most project management tools either ignore estimation or bury it under heavyweight process. ScopeCone is lightweight and purpose-built for estimation and capacity planning. It helps teams avoid โ€œspreadsheet chaosโ€ without forcing them into a massive suite they donโ€™t need.

How would you describe your primary audience?

ScopeCone's answer:

Engineering managers, product leads, and small to mid-sized software teams who struggle with planning weeks, unreliable roadmaps, and spreadsheets that donโ€™t scale.

What's the story behind your product?

ScopeCone's answer:

I built it out of necessity. As an engineering leader, I relied on a hacked-together Excel sheet to run estimation and planning. It worked well enough for me that I decided to turn it into a SaaS, so other teams could benefit from a tool designed specifically for progressive estimation and honest capacity tracking.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ScopeCone's answer:

  • Next.js (React)
  • Node.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • TailwindCSS
  • Deployed on Vercel

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ScopeCone's answer:

  • Iโ€™m currently the first and primary customer, using ScopeCone for my own planning.
  • Early testers are being onboarded now โ€” Iโ€™m looking for more teams to join
