SimpleX is a new platform for distributed Internet applications where the privacy of the messages and the network matters most. The current version is stable, robust and can be used from the terminal (command line) on all major desktop platforms (Linux/Mac/Win) and on Android phones in Termux!
There is currently no messaging application that respects user privacy and guarantees metadata privacy โ in other words, messages could be private, but a third party can always see who is communicating with whom by examining a central service and the connection graph. SimpleX, at its core, is designed to be truly distributed with no central server. This allows for enormous scalability at low cost, and also makes it virtually impossible to snoop on the network graph.

I want to switch to SimpleX Chat[1] but at the moment there are issues with battery usage on android devices because of the way notifications are done. I hope this[2] or some other solution get merged soon even if there is a slight impact on anonymity. The visual patching part of Max makes sense when you know the history of the program. It was built for musicians working at the forefront of interfacing MIDI with the power of the more compact mainframe computers of the day (PDP-11 IIRC). SuperCollider has a longer DSP feature list and a more powerful language. The dealbreaker was deployment: scsynth is a separate process. At this point, we can produce the array of pitches that are midi notes. To create sound from these notes I've used a specialized programming language called SuperCollider.
