Possible disadvantages of Hover

  • SignalApp UI Home Screen but with Flutter
The Home screen will be the entry-point of the application, where the active conversations can be seen by the user. It is also the place where SignalApp can be configured, when tapping on the User avatar on the top left of the application, a Drawer menu should open. This menu is not displayed on the screenshot, then, only an empty one will be created. - Source: dev.to / 25 days ago
  • The FCC Wants Your ID Before You Get a Phone Number
Signal's requirement for phone numbers has allowed it to surge in popularity by allowing it to take advantage of people's already established contacts. They do this in a privacy respecting way[1]. Simultaneously, Signal is trying to raise the cost of accounts by requiring phone numbers. Although spammers can get mass amounts of phone numbers, it will at least raise the cost. Email 0 cents, phone # 10 centsโ€“there... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago

  • Ask HN: Google migrated Google Workspace billing to Squrespace, now what?
I wanted to like Porkbun but failed to buy a .io domain through them because of technical problems on their end. Their website is also a bit programmer-y and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone non-technical. (Eg UX of login flow includes "Leave password blank if using a passkey or passwordless login.") I ended up using http://hover.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago

  • How to setup two domains for use with Polylang?
Hey, I am currently creating a multilingual website with Polylang and I want to use two domains. How do I need to setup the domains for it to work? I bought the domains on hover.com and I use Siteground as my hoster, so I changed the nameservers from hover to Siteground for both domains. What else do I need to setup and where exactly? Is this forum the right one to ask for this? If not which one is? Source: over 3 years ago
  • Can't get emails working
At first I was trying to get the hover.com emails to work but their support even recommended going with someone else so I went with MailGun but now I feel like I've either done something wrong from the beginning and need to redo it all or I simply just don't understand what it is I need to do. Beware of "free" domain names or hosting with domain name. It's important that you and you only, control your domain name. If you get a "free" name with a hosting service, you may be tied to that service, no matter how lousy or expensive they become, because they control your domain name. I'm a semi-retired web developer. I recommend hover.com for domain names and Siteground.com for WordPress hosting. And... Source: almost 4 years ago
