As answered by people managing SeatPlanning and Cert Decoder.
SeatPlanning's answer
SeatPlanning was born from the realization that seating charts are one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning. After seeing couples struggle with spreadsheets, last-minute changes, and messy tools, the idea was to build a purpose-built SaaS that turns what feels like chaos into a calm, guided process. It’s made by people who’ve been through event chaos themselves and wanted to create the tool they wished existed at the time.
Cert Decoder's answer:
I built certdecoder.com over the weekend for my own needs. Sometimes in my work, I need to verify and check certificate details.
SeatPlanning's answer
React, NextJS, Tailwind + shadcn/ui, with React Flow powering the visual seating layouts.
Cert Decoder's answer:
certdecoder.com was built using just JavaScript and HTML—simple, fast, and with all processing happening locally in your browser, so no certificate data is sent to any server
SeatPlanning's answer
SeatPlanning’s first audience is event planners, couples planning weddings, teaches and really anyone that has to deal with a seating chart or RSVPs to an event.
Cert Decoder's answer:
certdecoder.com is primarily built for developers, sysadmins, cybersecurity enthusiasts, and DevOps engineers.
SeatPlanning's answer
Most competitors either focus on RSVP collection or on static seating layouts. SeatPlanning bridges that gap:
✅ Guests RSVP directly into the platform (no double entry). ✅ Hosts can tag dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, and family dynamics. ✅ Everything exports to a print-ready format. In short: it saves time, prevents errors, and makes the process far less stressful than juggling spreadsheets + design tools + messaging apps.
Cert Decoder's answer:
Simple, fast, and reliable. Some similar tools can’t even decode basic certificates. I rigorously tested my tool with many real-world certificates and covered several edge cases where competitors fall short.
Cert Decoder's answer:

SeatPlanning's answer
SeatPlanning combines visual seating charts, guest list management, and RSVP collection in one place. Why? Because I built certdecoder.com and couldn’t find a decent place to submit it. So I said screw it — I’ll build my own. With blackjack and hookers. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
