The counter function is written in Ruby. Since Ruby is an interpreted language, AssemblyLift deploys a customized Ruby 3.1 interpreter compiled to WebAssembly, which executes the function handler. Since the interpreter is somewhat large, the cold-start time of a Ruby function tends to be larger than that of a Rust function. Run something like rbenv install 3.1.1 to install that version on your system (requires related project ruby-build), then rbenv local 3.1.1 in your code's directory to specify that for any ruby command in that directory only, you want to use version 3.1.1 that you installed through rbenv. If you go to the https://android-x86.org website and scroll down a bit one of the tasks they've been working on has been to upgrade to a newer (though still not the newest) kernel. This will have a profound effect on hardware support, but in the meantime many PCs with parts released in the last five years don't work as expected unfortunately. Source: over 3 years ago
The only way to see if Android will run is to try and run it. Start with the newest release from https://android-x86.org, write it to a flash drive with Etcher and try booting it - like GNU/Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Android-x86 has a live mode in which you can test it to see if it boots, and if it does test to see if your hardware all works.
