Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Roast & Review and Codegres.org.

What makes your product unique?

Roast & Review's answer

What makes Roast & Review unique?

Roast & Review doesn't give you polite, generic feedback — it deploys 12 distinct AI personas (recruiter, SEO auditor, UX designer, investor, copywriter, and more) that simultaneously tear apart your landing page, resume, or pitch deck in under 15 seconds. Each persona attacks from their domain expertise, so you don't just get "it's okay" — you get a savage roast with concrete, actionable fixes broken down by category.

Unlike traditional review platforms (G2, Capterra) that collect slow, polite star ratings from strangers over weeks — or AI tools that give you one safe, sanitized answer — Roast & Review delivers brutally honest, multi-perspective feedback instantly. It's the difference between asking one friend "is this good?" and putting your work in front of a room of 12 experts who won't hold back.

Three things no other product does together:

Multi-persona AI roasts — not one AI opinion, but 12 specialized critics in one pass Domain-specific audits — SEO score, recruiter verdict, design critique, investor red flags — all categorized Instant + actionable — 15 seconds in, you have specific lines to rewrite, sections to delete, and improvements to ship today

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Roast & Review's answer

Because every other feedback tool either lies to you or wastes your time.

Traditional review platforms like G2 and Capterra give you curated, polite star ratings from strangers who used the product for 5 minutes. AI writing assistants give you one safe, generic suggestion that won't offend anyone. Reddit and Twitter roasts are entertaining but unstructured — no SEO score, no recruiter verdict, no way to turn "this sucks" into a shipping checklist.

Roast & Review is the only tool that gives you all three: speed, honesty, and actionability.

vs. G2/Capterra/TrustPilot — They collect slow, surface-level reviews over weeks. You get a roast in 15 seconds with domain-specific breakdowns (SEO, UX, copy, hiring) that actually tell you what to fix. vs. ChatGPT/Claude feedback — One AI, one opinion, one tone (usually too nice). Roast & Review runs 12 specialized AI personas in parallel — so the recruiter spots what the designer misses, and the investor catches what the SEO auditor overlooks. vs. Reddit/HN roasts — Fun but chaotic. No structure, no categories, no "here's exactly what to change on line 47." Roast & Review gives you the savage honesty of a Reddit thread with the precision of a professional audit. Bottom line: If you want gentle validation, use a star-rating platform. If you want to ship something that actually converts, get roasted.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Roast & Review's answer

People who build things and need them to not suck.

Roast & Review is built for makers who ship fast and want honest feedback faster — founders, indie hackers, job seekers, freelancers, and designers who are too close to their own work to see its flaws.

Three core segments:

Founders & indie hackers — Launching a landing page, pitch deck, or product update and need to know "will this convert?" before putting it in front of real users. They'd rather get torn apart by 12 AI personas for $0 than find out from their analytics 2 weeks later that their hero section is confusing. Job seekers & career changers — Submitting resumes, portfolios, or LinkedIn profiles and wondering why they're not getting callbacks. The recruiter and hiring-manager personas catch red flags that your friends won't point out because they're being nice. Freelancers & agencies — Delivering client work (websites, decks, campaigns) and needing a quick gut-check before handoff. Roast & Review is the 2-minute QA pass that catches the SEO gaps, design inconsistencies, and copy mistakes your client will find — but before they do. What they all have in common: They don't need another "looks good!" — they need someone to tell them what's broken, and they need it now.

What's the story behind your product?

Roast & Review's answer

I built Roast & Review because I was tired of shipping things that looked fine to me — and bombed anyway.

The pattern was always the same: I'd spend days polishing a landing page, ask a few friends for feedback, get "looks great!", ship it, and watch it flop. My resume? Same story — "looks solid" from everyone, zero callbacks. My pitch deck? "Really clean design!" from peers, glazed eyes from investors.

The problem wasn't that people were lying — it's that the people closest to you are the worst reviewers. They're too nice, too familiar with your thinking, or just not the right audience. And the people who would give honest feedback — recruiters, investors, SEO experts — aren't hanging out waiting to review your stuff for free.

One night after another failed launch, I dumped my landing page into ChatGPT and asked for a roast. It was... fine. Polite. Missed the stuff that actually mattered. Then I asked it again, but told it to act like a ruthless SEO auditor. Completely different — and actually useful. Then I tried the designer angle. Different again. Each persona caught things the others missed.

That was the aha moment: one AI opinion is still just one opinion. But 12 specialized personas attacking from 12 different angles? That's a room of experts who won't hold back — and they never sleep.

I built Roast & Review the next weekend. Pasted my landing page, got roasted by 12 AI personas in 15 seconds, and they collectively found 3 conversion-killing problems my friends had all missed. Fixed them. The page converted 40% better.

Now the question isn't "does this look good?" — it's "can this survive the roast?"

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Roast & Review's answer

Roast & Review is built on a modern AI-first stack designed for speed, scalability, and multi-perspective analysis:

-AI & LLM Engine — Powered by large language models (GPT-4 class) with a custom multi-persona orchestration layer. Each of the 12 AI personas (Recruiter, SEO Expert, Designer, Investor, Copywriter, etc.) runs on domain-specific system prompts and evaluation rubrics, enabling parallel, specialized critiques from a single submission. -Next.js + React — The frontend and API layer are built on Next.js with server-side rendering for fast load times and SEO-optimized public roast pages. The component architecture supports real-time streaming of AI responses so users see feedback appear in under 15 seconds. -Python + FastAPI — The core analysis pipeline runs on a Python backend with FastAPI, handling prompt chaining, persona routing, scoring aggregation, and optional web scraping for live landing page audits. Python's ML/AI ecosystem makes it the natural choice for the heavy-lifting AI orchestration. -Supabase (PostgreSQL + Auth + Storage) — Authentication, user profiles, roast history, and file uploads (CVs, pitch decks) are managed through Supabase, providing a real-time database, row-level security, and built-in storage without managing infrastructure. -Cloudflare + Cloud — Deployed on Vercel for the Next.js app with edge functions for low-latency routing. Media processing and document parsing (PDFs, images) leverage cloud functions for async handling. -Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui — The interface uses Tailwind for rapid styling and shadcn/ui components for a polished, accessible design system that keeps the UX clean and distraction-free — because the focus should be on the roast, not the UI.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Roast & Review's answer

Roast & Review is in its growth phase and serves a diverse range of users across several key segments. Rather than naming individual companies, here are the customer categories that represent our largest and most active user base:

Early-stage startups and solo founders — Our biggest segment. Founders preparing for pitch competitions, accelerator applications (Y Combinator, Techstars), or investor meetings use Roast & Review to stress-test their pitch decks and landing pages before going live. The Investor and Copywriter personas are their most-requested critiques. Job seekers and career changers — Users submitting CVs and LinkedIn profiles for the Recruiter and HR Manager personas. This segment sees the highest repeat usage, as people iteratively improve their materials based on each roast round. Freelance designers and web agencies — Creative professionals who use the Designer, UX Researcher, and SEO Expert personas to validate client deliverables before handoff. Several boutique agencies have integrated roast sessions into their internal QA workflow. Indie hackers and Product Hunt launchers — Makers who roast their landing pages in the final 48 hours before a Product Hunt or SaaSHub launch. The SEO Expert and Copywriter personas catch conversion-killing issues that internal bias blinds them to. Content marketers and growth teams — Teams running A/B tests who use the Copywriter and Marketer personas to critique headline variants, email sequences, and ad copy before committing budget to live experiments.
