I moved from Roku to Chrome cast with googletv to use deep linking that most devices are no longer supporting. I use the reelgood.com app on my cell or website on my laptop to cast. I also use justwatch.com to open shows/movies to open the app you select to stream from. Source: about 3 years ago

I'm not sure if your 4.5yo is old enough to try Scratch[1] but nothing is too young these days. My elder got into Scratch around that time. My four year old was kicked out of his preschool class, and the school recommended I set him up with applied behavioral analysis.
