Code.org is much easier to use than Thunkable.First of all names say everything.Second,it has more modes than just "drag-and-drop".

    đź‘Ť Pros:    Pretty design|Price|Easy layout
đź‘Ž Cons:    Unproffesional|Lack support by phone|No sign up cost

Code.org uses an extremely outdated version of javascript, It's so hard to access data in array, im basically forced to do this. Cant wait to ditch this shit. Source: 5 months ago
  • Ask HN: Animation Software for Kids?
I'm not sure if your 4.5yo is old enough to try Scratch[1] but nothing is too young these days. My elder got into Scratch around that time. These days, my younger one is into https://code.org and she make things go around, do stuffs, etc. 1. https://scratch.mit.edu. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Please help me with my code.org project. I cant post on the code.org forum bc its only for teachers
So I am using code.org to make a platforming game, and if I am halfway off of a platform I slide off of it. Idk if this is a quirk with code.org or if I did something wrong. You can check the hitboxes by pressing debug sprites in the bottom right corner. Source: 6 months ago
  • [Grade 9 Digital Literacy] How do I view the assessment on code.org
My school hosts the unit tests for digital literacy on code.org as the "assessment day" at the bottom of the unit. Is there any way to view the test before it is unlocked by the teacher on a student account? Source: 6 months ago
  • Advice for my autistic son
My four year old was kicked out of his preschool class, and the school recommended I set him up with applied behavioral analysis. Though it hurt to read the email from the school, I don't blame them at all, he does have impulse control issues and doesn't always pay attention when others are talking to him. He sometimes also throws things and apparently pushed another student once. Outside of the social... Source: 7 months ago
  • How can I actually run code on my chromebook?
This seems like a dumb question to me, but I tried a bunch of different things and none of them have worked. I've only been coding for about a month, which has mostly been in the code.org app lab but I recently switched to JSfiddle. It's been working well for me, but I can't figure out how to run code on different websites. For example, I was going to try to write some code to automatically sort my gmail, but I... • please explain programming to me but dumb it down 20x or else ill fail this class
Im in this class where I have to learn java and later c++ because I thought it could just be useful to know and I thought I would enjoy it because I took an intro to computer science where basically everything we did was make little games and do random shit on code.org. • For every Data Professional mini-interview we'll donate $5 to dogs or code.org
For every completed (applicable) mini-interview we'll donate $5 to either code.org or phillyPAWS (our local rescue here in Philadelphia) until we run out of $$ (we will shut the survey down before then, no free lunches on our part). By "applicable" we mean the respondent is either a data or software professional or works directly with data/software professionals. Source: 9 months ago
  • taking ap csp with little experience?
CSP is designed for people who have an interest but zero experience. You should check your school's handbook to see if there's any prerequisites in terms of coding languages. When I took it, the only prereq was an algebra course. However, almost all of the work we did was in code.org where they hold your hand the entire time. That might not be how your teacher decides to do things. Source: 10 months ago
  • Can someone explain this issue in code.org App Lab?
I am making a guess the song game in App Lab in code.org (which is JavaScript I think) and I keep running into the same issue when I try to set a two labels on the user interface to a song name and the artist from a filtered list. Source: 10 months ago
  • Any good AP Classes in Ninth Grade that I should take?
Also, AP CSP is super ezz and 30% of the AP exam score comes from a project you do during school so aiming for a 4/5 is very reasonable. Don't need any prior coding or computer science knowledge. The coding info and project are all on code.org and the MCQ is heavily filled with cybersecurity questions. Source: 10 months ago

  • How can I teach AI in my classroom?
Start with the basics: Before diving into AI, it's important to ensure that your students have a basic understanding of computers and programming. Websites like Code.org offer interactive coding lessons for children. You could also consider using programmable robots or toys that introduce the concept of coding in a fun and engaging way. • How can I teach AI in my classroom?
First prompt engineering is not the future, it is temporary until these models understating mature and this will not long from now. It is great to teach the kids about AI models, but you can start with the fundamentals which going to stay for long like the differences between fine tuning and few short learners and teach them the prompt as part of these concepts. ChatGPT should help to explain those concepts to you... Source: 11 months ago
  • Bard said it couldn’t access the internet. Admits it was mistaken.
More of my evidence aside from the fact that GOOGLE NEVER MENTIONED THE BEST PART OF BARD lies in how often it gets things wrong. Go to code.org public projects and take the url of one of them and ask Bard questions about it. He can't even tell you the metadata of the website, which would be located in the header of the html source code, I believe. Like the title that is shown in the tab in your browser? Bard... Second kid used code.org to study for AP CS Principles on his own last year (worked great and he loved it), and took a UC Scout AP CS A class this year (actually in about 8 weeks) and learned the material well but found it more tedious. Still, very happy because in both cases the school offered the classes but the scheduling didn't work. Plus they are more competitive for internships. Source: 12 months ago
