  I'm also curious because it seems like using a phone with no strings attached today seems almost impossible unless you get an actually old phone, which either works poorly or costs a lot as part of a retro collection or something.   To be very frank, I was also thinking that another reason people tend to use Whatsapp is that it’s not really tied to any actual account as in the case of iCloud, right? It’s just a phone number that’s required, and so if you want to stay private, or just log in with a fake account, you can use a free phone number for verification, just as you would do with some disposable temporary mail when you want to log in to...   While searching for another way out, I stumbled upon a service called quackr.io. It claims to provide temporary phone numbers for registration confirmation purposes. Using fake numbers for app verification is quite tempting, and I read that it's a savior when it comes to website registration.
