Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing PythonAnywhere and NutriFacts.

What makes your product unique?

NutriFacts's answer:

NutriFacts is a genuinely free, browser-based FDA nutrition label generator with no signup, no watermarks, and no usage caps. It supports all six FDA 2020 label formats โ€” standard vertical, dual-column, tabular, linear, aggregate, and bilingual (English/Spanish) โ€” and produces print-ready 300 DPI PNG and PDF files. Everything runs client-side in your browser, so your recipe and nutrition data are never uploaded to a server. It's built to give the smallest food businesses the same compliant labeling that usually sits behind paid software.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

NutriFacts's answer:

Small and early-stage food businesses that need FDA-compliant labels without expensive software โ€” primarily home bakers and cottage food producers selling at markets and online, early-stage food and beverage startups printing their first packaging, restaurants and ghost kitchens packaging grab-and-go items, and co-packers, recipe developers, and consultants who need clean draft labels for clients. It's also used by students, dietitians, and educators teaching how Nutrition Facts panels are built.

What's the story behind your product?

NutriFacts's answer:

NutriFacts started from a simple gap: creating an FDA-compliant nutrition facts label shouldn't require a paid subscription or a signup wall. Small food makers โ€” cottage bakers, farmers-market sellers, first-run startups โ€” were being priced out of basic compliance or forced to export watermarked labels they couldn't actually use. NutriFacts was built to make professional, FDA 2020-format labels free for everyone, generated entirely in the browser so nobody has to hand over their recipes to get a label. The tool has since grown to cover all six FDA formats, ingredient labels, and plain-English cottage food law guides for U.S. states.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

NutriFacts's answer:

Most nutrition label tools gate the useful parts behind a signup, a monthly subscription, a monthly label cap, or a watermark on free exports. NutriFacts removes all of that: unlimited labels, no account, no watermark, no fee. It follows FDA 2020 formatting rules under 21 CFR 101.9 (nutrient order, Daily Value math, the mandatory added-sugars/Vitamin D/potassium updates, minimum font sizes), offers more formats than most free tools, and processes everything locally so proprietary recipes stay private. It's also transparent about its limits โ€” it formats and calculates from the values you enter but doesn't replace lab testing or a regulatory review, which matters for anyone making compliance claims.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

NutriFacts's answer:

Next.js (React framework) React TypeScript Tailwind CSS html2canvas (client-side label rendering and image/PDF export) Hosted on Vercel

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

NutriFacts's answer:

Home bakers and cottage food producers selling at markets, fairs, and online Early-stage food and beverage startups printing their first packaging runs Restaurants and ghost kitchens packaging retail or grab-and-go items Co-packers, recipe developers, and food consultants creating draft labels for clients Students, dietitians, and educators teaching how Nutrition Facts panels are built

If you are learning, use pythonanywhere.com as they specialize in python, and make setup easy. Only $5 a month. Start with a barebones flask app, get it to run, then follow a tutorial. • Redirecting client to my server via a external server
Hello, I have a Minecraft server running on a Rpi with Paper. It works great and I use it to play with some of my friends. However, the server's public IP address often changes, meaning that I have to give my friends the new IP address daily. Being a programmer, I feel this could be automated. I don't want to buy a domain, so I want to try and setup a system where the server sends Its IP to my PythonAnywhere... Source: over 3 years ago
