For beginners, the learning curve can be steep due to the advanced features and extensive configuration options provided by HAProxy.
  • Limited Application Layer Features
While HAProxy excels at load balancing and basic traffic management, it lacks some application layer features that specialized application delivery controllers (ADCs) might offer.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing ProxySentinel.io and Haproxy.

What makes your product unique?

ProxySentinel.io's answer

ProxySentinel's uniqueness comes from its "Bring Your Own Proxies" (BYOP) model. Unlike all-in-one providers who lock you into their expensive proxy network, ProxySentinel is a dedicated management layer. This core difference provides two unique advantages:

Drastic Cost Reduction: By decoupling the software from the commodity proxies, you can buy cheaper proxies from any provider you want and slash your total bill by up to 90%.

Superior Developer Experience: We focus solely on building the best possible management tool, centered around a powerful real-time dashboard. You get true control and visibility over your entire scraping infrastructure, free from vendor lock-in.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ProxySentinel.io's answer

Massive Cost Savings: Competitors bundle proxy management with their own expensive, per-GB proxy networks. With our BYOP model, you can use any provider and cut your monthly bill dramatically.

True Control & No Vendor Lock-in: You are never locked into a single provider's network or pricing whims. You can add, remove, and switch between multiple proxy providers on the fly to ensure resilience and cost-effectiveness.

A Better Tool: Alternatives like Bright Data's Proxy Manager are often clunky, unstable, and an afterthought. ProxySentinel is a lightweight, powerful, and reliable tool built with a clean developer experience at its core.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ProxySentinel.io's answer

Our primary audience is the "Scale-Up Scraper."

This is typically a Lead Engineer, Data Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer at a growing tech company (10-1,000 employees). They are responsible for a data acquisition pipeline that has become too large and critical for simple scripts, but they don't have the resources to build a dedicated in-house DevOps team for proxy management.

The primary trigger for them seeking a solution is "Bill Shock"—receiving an unsustainable $2k-$20k+ monthly bill from a managed provider.

What's the story behind your product?

ProxySentinel.io's answer

As a consultant specializing in web scraping for several years, I saw the same story play out over and over again. Companies would become reliant on expensive all-in-one proxy providers, get hit with massive, unpredictable bills, and suffer from provider downtime that would halt their critical data acquisition.

There was no good tool that offered professional-grade management without forcing you to use a specific, overpriced proxy network.

I built ProxySentinel because it was the tool I wish existed for my clients and myself: a pure, powerful management layer that gives control back to the developer and makes web scraping affordable at scale.
