Searching for "google books" in google leads to https://books.google.com/ which no longer allows you to read any of your books. https://play.google.com/books is the site to read your purchased books now. Google search does not show https://play.google.com/books in its results at all. Thought it was some weird personalization quirk, but seems others have had the same issue:... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
I'm hoping that it's just some kind of server outage but it's been down since around 7pm yesterday. https://play.google.com/books. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
Itโs not ideal, but you can try using Google Play Books in your internet browser to read your ePub files. The URL is https://play.google.com/books and there doesnโt seem to be a limit to how many files you can upload. I use it as a way to back up all my files to the cloud as well as to read on computers where I donโt want to have to download any programs. Source: over 3 years ago
You do have to cloud upload it and then it syncs to all your devices. Which also means you can use play.google.com/books on your PC and mass-upload all your books. Source: over 3 years ago
In general, the best solution for ensuring that you have your books (and have them in good condition) in the long run is to buy digital books and then remove the DRM (assuming that you can't buy them DRM-free in the first place, though most publishers don't do that). You can then back up the files however you like to ensure that they stick around. Unfortunately, that's becoming much harder to do with Kindle books... Source: over 3 years ago
Thanks, will take a look at that curl thing. We are still using this and been working for us for ~15 years (python 2, ported to python 3) and this is just an example of how to take https://fabfile.org to the extreme but still is not the best way to do it. We only ~50 servers so it is not a massive fleet. The convenience of typing `fab ` to do things under control is still better than nothing :). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I've used Rake and Fabric for somewhat similar (but less ambitious) stuff in the past and I'm thinking that Fabric might be a pretty good fit for this task as well, but I'd still like your input. Are there other tools I should look into? I've heard goodthings about Puppet but just looking at their site (it contains the word Enterprise ) gives me the feeling that it might be overkill for a one man operation. Source: over 4 years ago
