OpenVox AI is a local text-to-speech (TTS) application designed for Mac, Windows, and iPad. It aims to provide privacy-focused AI voice generation with a user-friendly interface, allowing users to create realistic voiceovers, design new voices, clone reference voices, generate multi-speaker conversations, and convert written books into audio.
The toolโs core operations run directly on the userโs device, without requiring cloud-based voice generation. Files, scripts, and generated audio remain local, enhancing privacy and giving users more control over their content. After the one-time model download, core voice generation can work offline, reducing the need for a continuous internet connection.
OpenVox AI offers multiple AI voice models, a wide range of voices, and support for many languages. It also provides functionality for creating custom, reusable voices. The app can convert text files into expressive speech and allows users to control speech parameters such as speed and pitch. For larger projects, OpenVox AI includes batch processing, audiobook workflows, and multi-speaker conversation support.
A voice cloning feature is also included, enabling users to upload or record samples and manage cloned voices locally. On Mac, OpenVox AI is optimized for Apple Silicon. On Windows, it supports NVIDIA CUDA acceleration for faster generation on supported GPUs, while also offering CPU mode for non-NVIDIA systems. On iPad, it brings the local AI voice workflow to a more portable form.
OpenVox AI offers a free download and does not require users to create an account.
OpenVoxOpenVox's answer:
OpenVox leverages modern neural text-to-speech architectures including transformer-based and diffusion-based models such as Qwen3 TTS, Kokoro, and Chatterbox. It is optimized for Apple Silicon using on-device acceleration for efficient performance. The app integrates model management, audio processing pipelines, and a native macOS interface to deliver a seamless local AI experience.
OpenVox's answer:
OpenVox is a local-first text-to-speech app built specifically for Apple Silicon Macs, allowing users to run powerful AI voice models entirely on-device. Unlike most TTS tools that rely on cloud APIs, OpenVox delivers fast, private, and offline voice generation after a one-time model download. It combines high-quality models like Qwen3 TTS, Kokoro, and Chatterbox with an intuitive UI, making advanced voice synthesis accessible without subscriptions or technical setup.
OpenVox's answer:
OpenVox eliminates recurring costs and privacy concerns by running everything locally on your Mac. Users get full control over their data, faster generation speeds, and no dependency on internet connectivity. It also offers a wide range of features including voice cloning, custom voice design, audiobook workflows, and batch exports, all in a simple, user-friendly interface. For creators and developers, it is a powerful alternative to expensive cloud-based TTS tools.
OpenVox's answer:
OpenVox is designed for content creators, developers, indie hackers, educators, and professionals who need high-quality voice generation without relying on cloud services. It is especially useful for Mac users with Apple Silicon devices who want to leverage their hardware for AI workloads. It also appeals to users who value privacy, cost efficiency, and offline capabilities.
OpenVox's answer:
OpenVox was built out of frustration with expensive, subscription-based TTS tools that require constant internet access and compromise on privacy. The goal was to create a simple yet powerful solution that allows users to run state-of-the-art AI voice models locally on their own machines. By combining ease of use with cutting-edge models, OpenVox makes advanced voice generation accessible to everyone without technical barriers.
OpenVox's answer:
OpenVox is a great option for anyone who values privacy and local AI processing. I really like that everything runs on-device, making it easy to create high-quality voiceovers without relying on cloud services or giving up control of your data.

The PHP website is indeed one of the worst parts of the whole ecosystem. Just look at the landingpage (https://php.net) and compare it with those of other languages. There's not a single piece of PHP code on the page. No "what is PHP", no "why should I use it", and no "that's why PHP is great". It's just a news page showing the latest releases, and a small section for downloading PHP. And speaking of the website:... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
My initial idea was to leverage the main applicationโs queue worker by deploying a queue worker remotely and setting up a secure connection between them using something like Wireguard. Vigilant is written in PHP using the Laravel framework, for queuing it uses Laravel Horizon. This is a queuing system built on top of Redis. All monitoring tasks in Vigilant are executed on this queue, it allows for multiple queues... - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago
I remember being 15 (18 years ago ๐ฅฒ) and learning PHP. Stack Overflow wasnโt as big yet, and finding answers often meant digging through forums filled with half-baked solutions, each dependent on specific hosting configurations. There was no universal standard, some hosts supported certain php.ini settings while others didnโt. The only reliable resource? The official PHP documentation: php.net. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
That's the first I've heard of it, and I like it! I can't tell you the number of trips to php.net to look at argument order for a function. Is it haystack/needle, or needle/haystack? Of course it could turn into the same thing w/ argument names (is it whole_name or full_name?), but I'm going to use it. Source: about 3 years ago
Prepare to spend a fair bit of time reading and going back to phptherightway.com and php.net. I've also found this Tutorial from Envato Tuts+ to be quite good. Source: about 3 years ago
