The PHP website is indeed one of the worst parts of the whole ecosystem. Just look at the landingpage (https://php.net) and compare it with those of other languages. There's not a single piece of PHP code on the page. No "what is PHP", no "why should I use it", and no "that's why PHP is great". That's the first I've heard of it, and I like it! I can't tell you the number of trips to php.net to look at argument order for a function. Is it haystack/needle, or needle/haystack? On one hand, BlitzBasic and BlitzMax was a key moment for me, 15 years ago, of 'getting' programming - I clearly remember as a teenager when some basic concepts clicked together, and here I am many years later a full-time indie game developer.
