Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing PDFShift and Waysorted.

What makes your product unique?

Waysorted's answer:

Most Figma plugins solve one problem, so a working file ends up depending on five or six of them, each with its own subscription and its own way of doing things. Waysorted puts seven of those jobs behind one plugin: exporting frames to PDF, importing AI/EPS/PSD/PDF files, converting HTML into editable layers, building colour palettes with WCAG and APCA contrast checks, converting units, browsing an SVG icon library, and summarising comment threads.

Two things follow from that. Billing is one credit balance across every tool rather than a separate plan per plugin, so you pay for what you actually use. And PDF export runs entirely on your device — the plugin declares no network access for it, so client work never leaves your machine to be rendered on someone else's server.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Waysorted's answer:

Most of the alternatives here are one-job plugins, and they are good at their job — html.to.design converts pages, Magicul and Convertify handle file conversion, Iconify does icons, Stark does contrast. The cost only shows up later: a real working file ends up depending on four or five of them, which means four or five subscriptions and four or five different ideas about where the settings live.

Waysorted is the argument for consolidating. Seven of those jobs sit behind one plugin — frames to PDF, AI/EPS/PSD/PDF import, HTML into editable layers, colour palettes with WCAG and APCA contrast checks, unit conversion, an SVG icon library, and comment-thread summaries. One credit balance covers all of them, spent per use rather than per tool, so a month where you only export PDFs does not also pay for icon search.

Two differences worth knowing beyond the bundling. PDF export runs entirely on your device — the plugin declares no network access for it, so client work is never uploaded to be rendered on someone else's server. And contrast is checked against both WCAG 2 and APCA rather than one or the other, which matters because a palette can pass one and fail the other.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Waysorted's answer:

Product and UI designers who work in Figma every day and hand their work to someone else — a client, a stakeholder, a developer, a printer. That handoff is where these tools cluster: exporting frames as a review PDF, packaging screens for a weekly stakeholder review, checking a palette against WCAG and APCA before sign-off, converting units so a spec matches what actually gets built.

In practice that skews toward freelancers and small studios doing client work, where the same person does the design and the delivery and nobody else is going to assemble the PDF. Larger in-house teams use it for the same handoff steps, usually the export and contrast parts.

The other consistent group is anyone redesigning something that already exists, who needs a live page as editable layers rather than a screenshot to trace over.

The common thread: none of these are the job people open Figma to do. They are the work around the work, which is why bundling them behind one plugin and one credit balance makes more sense than a subscription each. Guides for these workflows are at https://www.waysorted.com/blogs
